Engine Boggs and studders

When I have am holding constant RPM it seems OK. When I step on the gas it studders and bogs and no power. But it idles fine and runs fine when I apply slow linear throttle. It seems to be more of a problem when the engine has warmed up and in at normal operating temperatures. I replaced the fuel filter and put in new plugs. I get no engine fault codes as well.

Try doing a top engine clean and clean the throttle plate Gm and all cars for that matter have this problem after about 5 years. First go to a GM dealer and buy their top engine cleaner it's about $10.00 next get a old tooth brush that you can throw away, with the engine cool remove the tube for the air cleaner so you can get to the throttle valve, I am not sure if this one has throttle body injection or port injection but it does not matter, go ahead and get the tooth brush soaked in the cleaner open the throttle plate and clean around the plate the back side and also where the plate seats get a can of berry-mans spray carb cleaner and spray it into the intake to clean it, this will be deposits from the engine back firing, you can't here it but they do still backfire now and then. next run the engine for one minute then shut off you will need a second person for the next part find a vacuum line near the throttle plate and put the hose in the container of the top engine cleaner start the engine and have the second person keep the car running allow all the fluid to be sucked in or as much as possible once it has the fluid in the system let it soak for 20 minutes. Hook the vacuum line back up start the car and let it run till it stops smoking then test drive the car. This-should clear your problem. The cause is that gas now days is so watered down that it leaves residue on the valves and pistons raising the compression ratio for the car and causes the computer to not be able to adjust the timing to allow the car to run at it's best performance so removing the carbon and gum puts it back to basic compression and will allow the computer to adjust and compensate for air and fuel flow, if it still has the problem then the next thing would be to remove the fuel sock on the fuel pump and or replace the fuel pump, the 96 was not designed to burn ethanol and eats the fuel sock after awhile and with the inhibitors in the fuel to keep it from evaporating (anti pollution solution) will cause it to gum up and also in the engine good luck hope this helps also try burning mid-grade afterwords it will help keep the engine running clean, buy at Shell, Texaco, Or Chevron only and run mid grade you should notice a few more miles per gallon average about 3.5 per gallon but you can do the math to figure if it pays for itself. if it has an automatic transmisson also do a complete filter and transmisson oil change about 18 quarts, also use lucas fuel addtive about every 3 tank full of fuel to help withthe build up problem. hope this was helpful.

Engine bogs and studders in low rpms usualy when warm

this maybe a fuel problem check fuel filter. also clean maf sensor, (manifold air flow). YOU CAN GO TO ANY AUTO PARTS STORE AND BUY A CAN OF MAF SENSOR SPRAY. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON CAN CAREFULLY. as long as you have the spray clean iat sensor, (Intake air temperature) it is in big hose from air filter to throttle body. it just pulls out from hose. it would not hurt to make sure the plugs are ok. because these two sensors have a lot to do with the load on engine as well as the map sensor.

Envoy 2004 idle speed

Hi
your problem seems very easy :) hope this one work with your envoy. Just buy AC DELCO carburetor tune-up conditioner.

How you use it: engine running , AC off please

1. detached the big black airflow hose which is attached in the mannifold of the engine block.

2. ask your friend to step on the gas pedal and set the rpm steady in 2000 rpm only.

3. then spray vigorously in 8 seconds the inside circle opening of mannifold while your friend steady step on gas pedal with steady 2000 RPM only.

4. after you spray, let your freind continue on gas pedal with 2000 rpm for 15 more seconds.

5. attached back the airflow big black hose to the manifold and you are ready to roll with your AC on.

if this one doesnt work, please scan your envoy by scanner called TECH II. and find out.
