Thats nearly three times too much freon installed in it. Most large cars take less than 2 pounds to fill

On my 96 yukon the air won't get cold its not

if it WAS working then gradually just seemed to not get cold it sounds like freon is low. with the compressor cycling on-off it has some freon in it. just add a small amount. i'll be honest its best to have someone with the recycler machine do this it will save you from adding too much and possibly damaging the compressor. most shops have a freon service special around 99 bucks?

2000 dodge durango, a/c compressor stopped working after freon was added, did I do something wrong?

at a rough guess you add excessive amounts of freon and that caused the compressor to seize up
gas is added using pressure gauges and not by the can
besides that did you use the correct gas as the r134a runs at a much higher pressure and will deliver liquid back to the compressor which is not good for the operation

A/C will not blow cold. I tryed adding refridge

It will take it a while ,until the compressor starts staying engaged long enough to **** the freon in faster.

A/C compressor kicks on and then immediately kicks off. We were trying to add freon and the pressure went way up. I stopped, but the compressor won't stay on now.

ur high pressure switch is kicking ur compressor off, legally by law u need to have ur system evacuated then re charged,, u cant put any more in if system is full,,,u have to let some out,,how u do that is up to u,,u should find out how much the system holds,,sometimes there is a 134a\c sticker under hood or on passenger side strut tower that will tell u,,,drain it completely,,then ad the proper amount,,,,hope it helped,,

2001 Isuzu Rodeo LS after adding Freon A.C runs warm and cold

It sounds like by adding refrigerant to the system it may be over pressurizing. When this happens it will cycle on and off.

You will need to hook up a set of manifold gauges and monitor the high and low pressures to see what is happening.

compressor needs time to circulate the refrigerant and for the refrigernt to heat up and cycle through the low pressure hi pressure side compressor will kick on and off and the only thing you will notice is the rpms or load on the vehicle will increase

When you add the freon turn the can upside down and it will push the oil and freon out of the can. If you have it up it sends freon but no oil.
You also may need more freon before the compressor will kick in.

My a/c is not blowing cold air. The compressor does not kick on when I turn the a/c on. I have tried adding freon to it but it does not allow any freon to enter the system. I have checked all the fuses and...

The compressor probably isn't kicking on beacuse it is low on freon. It won't take freon when you try because the compressor needs to be running to draw it in. Sounds like a catch 22 doesn't it? There is a low pressure switch either in the filter/drier, or on the low pressure line. If you unplug the switch and hook a jumper between the two pins, the compressor should kick on, allowing you to add freon. Hope this helps...
