Question about 2006 Saturn Vue

Engine light is staying on

I have a 2006 Saturn Vue w. 2.2l engine. I did a scan with a obd scanner and I pulled 16 codes from the computer. This came after I was spun off the road in the rain. I hydra-planed and was lucky the car did not flip. The codes that I am getting is the speed sensor code, TPS code, and brake problem code. There are multiple times these codes are displayed on the scanner. I checked out the car and everything is working well and the frame is in good condition. I am wondering if the spin set the codes off since the car was to adjust for the instability at the time of the spin.

How fast where you going? during the spin. it almost sounds like the connector to the computer may have jarred loose. see if you can pull the battery cable for about 4 hours if you have a chance then replace. this will reboot the computer.

Use the code reader and erase all codes. If any codes come back then you should look for a viable problem.

Probably .. most non emissions codes will go away after you clear them and drive 80 to 100 mi..this resets the computers trip.. if they continue to appear, then further diagnostics are needed... hope this helps..thanks for voting!!

Your vehicle is equipped with an OBD II computer AND a link to connect OBD II computer to a Smog Check Analyzer or Data Scan Tool (available
at most auto part stores). There are two types of codes, bad codes and good codes. The good codes are the "Readiness Flags". These Readiness Flags
indicate that certain emissions systems which the OBD II computer has been monitoring have PASSED the test, indicating that those systems are
working properly. Then there are the bad codes. The bad codes are actual "Trouble Code". These codes indicate that the OBD II computer
has detected a problem with in the emissions system. The Trouble Code will specifically indicate the component and problem which was found.
Newer vehicle's have very complex codes in the thousands.
"Readiness Flags" do not cause the "Check Engine" light to illuminate, but may cause a vehicle to fail the smog test.
In order to set all the proper "Readiness Flags" the OBDII system must complete at least one drive cycle (in some cases
two or three). A drive cycle is a sequence of internal tests which the OBDII computer runs while your vehicle is being driven. This insures
all emissions systems are functioning properly. Only then will your vehicle pass the smog inspection. A drive cycle usually requires one
week of driving.

Engine light

The light will stay on until you have the computer scanned for codes and then have the codes erased. If the problem has been fixed, the light will stay off.
The light will also go off if the problem is fixed after 50 or so starts.

Can you reset the o2 sensor light without changing it

Sure you can but the light is on because something is wrong.Buy an OBD 2 scanner at a local part store for about $35,(princess auto) plug it into the OBD 2 port under the dash (driver side) turn the key to the run position without starting the engine. It will scan the on-board computer and retrieve the code's, it will tell you what's wrong. Then follow the on screen instruction's for turning the light off.It will say something like erase code's or reset computer. If there is a problem with one off the O2 sensor's the light will come back on.Good luck.

Check engine light comes on, stays on for a day then is off for a day....rinse and repeat. the engine seems to be chugging at lower speeds. I am guessing it has to do with the exhaust. Any ideas?

If the check engine light goes on, then codes are stored in the computer. Have the engine scanned to check for codes to proceed with diagnosis using an OBD-II Scanner.

If the exhaust has a constriction, say in the catalytic converter, then the OBD-II system can pick it up using data from the Oxygen sensor.

However, there could be hundreds of things causing this condition. That is why it is helpful to scan the computer before proceeding.

My 2003 saturn vue service ebgine light stays

The CEL (Check Engine Light) will not go out until you hook up a OBD II scanner to your vehicle and erase the code. If it comes back again after you erase it than either the original problem still exists or you have a new problem. You can go to your local AutoZone store and they can hook up a scanner and erase your code for free.
