Does the 2001 Kia Sportage have a fuel sending module?

Just had my 2001 Kia Sportage tuned up at a local Kia dealership and now it's getting half the gas mileage it was before the tune up. I called the dealership they said it's the fuel sending unit and to bring it in. I think its BS. What does it sound like to you?

This is what I did. I used both solutions, I checked the list of replaced parts getting my ducks in a row before taking my Kia back to the dealership and making any demands. While doing this I found the fuse box lid under the hood wasn't snapped into place. I opened it up and found the 30 amp A/Con fuse blown I replaced it and that appears to have fixed the problem. The Kia went from 18 mpg before the tune up to 11mpg after the tune up back up to 20 mpg after replacing the A/Con fuse. Thank you for your solutions that lead me to fixing the my problem.

Take it back and DEMAND that they restore your car to the previous fuel mileage....NO CHARGE! If they balk take them to small claims (it's cheap and you'll win) because they are trying to sell you a "pig in a polke"! I'm a retired Journeyman mechanic....and what they are telling you is the biggest sack 'o you 'no what.....Iever heard. Good luck to you.

Cheap/ re used, but happens..also if the plugs they use are not pre gapped and they did not gap, this can happen as well..also have you checked your air filter? if they said they did...check it anyway..thats roughly 13% of your fuel economy... hope this helps!thanks for voting!

Have you checked the fuel pump relay to see if it is sending power to the pump ? The computer grounds the relay when the computer "sees" oil pressure or engine RPM.

Location turbine sensor 2001 sportage and symptoms

hello per my dealing with the problem your having I suggest you take it into your Kia dealer have a Dealer Diagnosis run,, the electronics can be very tricky.. no local auto parts can solve that ..its a very expensive part to have to replace, if it ruins the turbo.. this is my best advice although I had to replace one once.. I found a real reputable turbo rebuilder and exchanged mine at half of the price a dealership will charge.. and you can utilize the repair at a local garage if yours becomes necessary to replace in the future.. as for the speed sensor it has to be top quality parts not aftermarket I have seen money wasted on those .just my dealings with kia tubro's or Toyota's also ,Best of Luck.. HOLD light is is running fine, recently went in for a tune-up This is a 2001 Kia Sportage

there is a 4-5 inch fuel return hose coming off the fuel rail. Usually most technicians do not see the fuel leak because it is slight and it evaporates fast. it is also close to the cold air intake for the heater(cowl) making the fuel smell inside the vehicle strong. the hose when removed will be dryrotted and hard. the hose costs under 10 dollars and a half hour to an hour labor is needed. it comes directly off the fuel pressure regulator

Replacing motor in my 2005 KIA Sportage and need the "proper name" of the intake manifold gasket that sits over top of the spark plugs. Have called local kia dealership but they said that there are...

Does it look like this? (copy and paste in your address bar)?

If so that is called the plenum gasket, or intake plenum gasket. There are available aftermarket, places like NAPA should have or be able to get them. It is a common gasket to replace because of the necessity to remove the plenum to do a tune-up. NAPA gets about $7 for the gasket.

2003 kia sportage starting problems

It could be a problem with the fuel pump or igntion module/ coil pack. The next time it stops, fuel pressure needs to be checked and have the ignition coil pack and module tested at a local parts store.

Its been a while since serviced kia sportage and its starting to chug along so thinking pribably fuel problem so shall i replace fuel filter and air filter and give injectors flush.

Probably time for a full tune up. Would recommend doing plugs and possibly wires along with a fuel injection decarb. Air filters and fuel fiters should always be replaced regulary.
