Question about 2006 Suzuki Forenza

1 Answer

TRANSMISSION PULLS VERY VERY SLOW IN DRIVE AND ONLY WHEN I ACCELERATE HEAVILY. REVERSE WORKS FINE.

IHAVE A 2006 FORENZA SUZUKI. DRIVING HOME LAST NIGHT FOR OVER 50 MILES IT DID FINE. PULLED UP TO STOP LIGHT STARTED TO PULL OUT AND TRANSMISSION PULLED VERY VERY SLOW AND ONLY WHEN I ACCELERATED HEAVILY. REVERSE WORKS FINE. When I put my 2006 forenza in reverse, it will sometimes actually jump and then then check engine light will come on. After it does this it doesn't appear to being going into gears right and transmission seems to drag. If I put it thru the gears 1-3, then into drive it will start driving correctly and sometimes the light goes off after I turn it off and turn it back on but when I put it in reverse again and it jumps again the process starts all over. The rpm's get up high when I try to drive in D without going back to 1-3 then putting in drive. I have never seen a car do this before

Is this car still under warranty? if so take it back to the dealer and don't accept it as repaired till you drive it. sounds like the logic that controls the transmission is flipping out, sometimes they will tell you that it needs a reflash. what this amounts to is that the manufacturer put some not so great programming in the logic when they built the car but now they have a patch or fix that makes it work better but you have to pay them for their time to install the fix. ask them what they will charge you for the privilege and decide if it's worth it to you. there is a recorded technical service bulletin about harsh shifts for your car. well, actually there are two, the latest one a revision of the first. i would try to make this their problem, it really is. hope this helps.

2006 Forenza goes into every gear but won't move?

is car a stick shift or auto.
must be and automatic trans
so do all shifted selections fail. on the gear shift lever.
lever does work right? moves.?
and PRNDL.
Reverse fail too?
and Drive
and Low.
get car serviced. or if handy....???
check levels, fuses and scan it.

yet another poster that never heard of or seen a stick shifted car.
gee, is it auto or stick
in both cases the cable most move at both ends.
and move correctly, or it will never shift.
have friend shift and you watch at the lever on side of the transaxle,
yes, that be like first and logical, right>

its just a cable shifter. its FWD as most are.

I wont say sounds like, as Im blind here and cant see car, drive it ,feel it or anything.
why ask the blind for help.?????
if it died moving, seems to me the cable didnt fall off and the trans shift to neutral, but?
but your post lack any facts. but died.

if car is AT (auto) check levels? for trans.
check linkage, yet.
check fuses, if it wont shift to 2nd,
if manual same checks, level and linkage works.
only the Fluid is different and the stick shift has a foot clutch and it can go bad too.
a stick shift clutch can fail and slip 100%
so , we can not guess what car you are driving
and asking for help when even you dont know that.
is over the top.

2006 Suzuki forenza keeps shifting gears while I'm driving

its supposed to, with an automatic.
my guess, is its doing something strange, so ask someone
to drive your car, a that can explain the symptoms.
here is a typical list of symptoms. your FSM covers each.

Transmission or Engagement issue?

I had the same problem with my 2006 Forenza - the problem was the transmission range sensor. If you look under the hood, on the drivers side, you'll see your trans. cable connected to a round part that also has an electrical cable coming from it. That is it. Part costs $36.07 at oemsuzukiparts.com (search for Neutral safety switch in the mechanical catalog).

Gear is slipping

this is something that a transmission shop will have to fix. also sounds like the sensor on shifting of transmission isnt receiving proper shifting signal.
