Question about 2004 Saturn ION
My 2004 Saturn ION Transaxle is humming along as I drive which I wouldn't mind but it sounds like big nobby snow tires on a pickup truck. If it could actually carry a tune for me I might tune out the radio.
According to the local mechanic, the transaxle is the source of the noise and he could take care of it $3,000 later - about what it is worth at this point. I have 124,000 miles on it. I know, I drive a lot. But it's mostly highway mileage - like that matters anymore.
I guess I'm looking for some verification and whether I should endeavor into such a fix. I'm worried what's next.
Thanks for your time!
I would get a second opinion. A trans will not usually make loud niose and work correctly. A wheel bearing/ hub will make the noise you describe and is far less to fix. Good Luck
