Question about 2002 Mercury Mountaineer

Open Question

2002 mercury mountaineer a/c blows cold air on driverside but blows warm air on passengerside

I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer. The a/c blows cold on the driverside vents but on the passengerside it blows warm air. It has dual climate settings for both sides. Where is the cabin air filter located.

This vehicle does not have a cabin air filter. Check to see if the passenger side settings are set to cool, rather than to heat.

SOURCE: dual climate control doesn't work properly

Sounds like the temperature door control actuator needs to be replaced on the driver's side.

SOURCE: How do you access the spark plugs 2002 mercury mountaineer

IIRC these are a coil over design. meaning the coil is over the plug. the coil should have one 8mm bolt holding it on the lower intake manifold. remove the coild to get to the spark plugs. look by the fuel injectors, coil should be just next to it or very close. coil usually says motorcraft on it and circle in design.

good luck

SOURCE: cabin filter location mercury mountaineer

There is one for the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. If you are smellign a "vinegar" odor, mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water and pour it down the grid at the base of the windshield. It will take care of the smell.

SOURCE: Mercury mountaineer check engine light help

My 2002 M Mountaineer had the same problem and was fixed by reading the code that showed a leak in the gas tank pressure via the cap. When I replaced this with a good after market cap and drove the car for a while and it cleared itself. A mechanic told me that's not possible, but it did clear and has not lit up except on start up where it lights for a few seconds to test the bulb - a normal function.

My 2004 Mercury Mountaineer V8 has warm air coming out, but not hot. I replaced the thermostate last night. It is blowing just not hot.

the air from the blower will be the same temperature as the coolant temperature. If you want it hotter you may have to get a thermostat that opens at a higher temperature or close the air circulation vent so that only cabin air is heated.and not fresh freezing cold air from outside.

2009 Mercury Mountaineer, my heater wont work unless I'm driving and get over 50 mph... I let my car warm up for 20-30 minutes and it wont defrost my windshield, it only blows cold air.

i would check the thermostat,i think its stuck open the coolant is running cold so you should install a new thermostat with higher degree.

no filters. May have a A/C shop check the blower for debris, also the evaporator (externally) could be plugged with debris. Make sure all doors are fully functioning.
