Turn signals stopped working on my car

I have a 1990 Buick LeSabre. About three months ago I had to start turning off my left signal as it wasn't turning off on its own anymore. Tonight, both turn signals quit working. Any ideas what caused them to stop working and how I would go about fixing it? Is it something I can fix easily on my own? Your help would be greatly appreciated as I am traveling out of town this weekend. Thank you!!!!

I checked the fuse and that seems ok. The brights still work as well as the windshield wipers.

Sounds like you have a faulty turn signal switch. in your car the same lever can control lots of things, turn signals, bright headlights, flash to pass, not sure that's all, maybe the wipers too. so gm calls that thing a multifunction switch. can you change it yourself? maybe. will it be easy? depends on what else you have done. you have to take the steering wheel apart to get to it. i think your car is new enough to have airbags, so you have to deal with that. if you are still interested in doing it yourself i can give you a play by play, just trying to let you know you do run the risk of deploying the airbag so you need to decide if you think it's worth it.

The steering wheel must be removed to replace the canceling cam; this requires a special steering wheel removal tool.
If your lamps still light when you hold the turnsignal arm down; replace your flasher

1990 Buick LeSabre - front end groans when I turn the wheels left or right. Started about 3 wks ago, but it wasn't constant at first. Steering pump? Fluid? Belt? Hoses? Ball Bearings? Lube? ...

First of all check the power steering fluid, have someone turn the wheel and listen to see if the noise is comming from the p/s pump, if no noise it is likely comming from the strut bearings. Worse case it could be in the rack & pinion unit.

Multiple engine misfire is related to the coils and the ignition control module. I have a 2002 with the 3.8 engine. It has three coils. I just went through this problem. I bought one coil and tried it in each position with no improvement. It was the ignition control module. Mine is located under the three coils. A relatively easy item to replace. Cost about $140.

Can't find flasher on 1990 buick lesabre

A friend of mine restores cars and he said:

There are two different flashers.
1. The hazard lights should be found on the steering column.
2. The turn signal flashers should be found under the steering column to the left.

I have a 1990 buick lesabre custom 4 door

Hi there,

I had the same problem with my 89 Buick Le sabre. It turned out that I had to replace the computer. It was giving the wrong signals and cutting off the fuel. My engine light came on each time it happened. Since the computer was changed it has run like a charm. It cost about $500.
Also when they ran the tests for the eng light data the computer was giving the wrong info and so many of the wrong parts were first replaced.

Turn signal, flasher

Sounds to me like your flasher is dead, perhaps the one you replaced it with 5 months ago was a dud... for 10-15 bucks, you might as well replace it with a new one.
