Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6

95 Jaguar XJ6 will not start and No codes present?

I have a 1995 Jaguar XJ6, 4.0 that will not start. I have checked it with a scan tool and there are no codes present. I checked best I could and it seems to have spark at the coils. I have checked the injectors for fire with a noid light and they are Not Firing. I have checked fuel pressure and it is good, Battery voltage is good. I think the Crank Position Sensor is good since there is fire to the spark plugs and no codes present.(I would like to know how much AC voltage should be present when cranking so I can check the crank sensor further). Also when I unplug the Crank Sensor it does set a code then. I did also notice that I can unplug the Engine Position Sensor/Cam Sensor and it Does Not set a code.
Any suggestion of where to start since there are no codes showing up?

I have rechecked and there is no spark either. It seems to me from my research that it is either Crank Sensor or Cam Sensor. Is there a way to check these parts before replacing one of them? The fact that there are no codes present has me confused.

I have the Exact same problem. It had not started for 2 weeks but then Yesterday though I got in it and tried it and it all most started. So I cranked on it and it started finally. It ran ok after a few minutes but hesitated when I tried to give it throttle quickly. I warmed it up and then shut it down and went in the house for a half and hour. When I came back it is just like it was. No Start. No fire from coils or injector pulse. I just replaced the crank sensor. It fixed it and now it is back to this again. The Crank sensor shows 1425 Ohm across the sensor, and .7 volt AC when cranking.

During cranking @crk sensor u should see up to 1 ac volt. Also if cam position sensor is @ fault u may not get a code, internal fault. Cam sensors are not availible, but rebuild kit is availible. The engine has to be set to top dead center aligning mark on crank pulley & tab aswell as mark on cam sensor itself.

How to get codes from a 1995 jag

The 1995 Jaguar XJ6 is OBDII compliant. You can read engine codes using an aftermarket code reader. You may have to call it a 1996 in order for the tool to read the codes. What you can not read without Jaguar's own reader is the ABS codes. Good luck!

95 jaguar xj6 no brake or reverse lights

Hi the Jaguar XJ6 works off a 12volt, negative earth.... Jauguar are a legend for electrical faults.... ok you need to do a voltage check/fault check on the system, remove the fuses from the associated problems, i.e the rear lights! place a volt metre over the contacts and there should be no voltage present! grab the wiring harness and move it side to side! if you see a rise in the volt metre then there is a short to the earth! this can be done through out the systen including switches.... i would personally check the earth contacts near he problem areas these corrode and you then get a short in the cicuit

Hope this helps.

Many cars of that period could be reset by some ignition key sequence.
Try switching from the off position to the on (not start) several times within 15-30 seconds.
It won't hurt anything and might turn off the light.
If the problem is still present that caused the light to go on the first time, it will likely come on again after you start the engine.

I hope the reason for that alarm light has been since corrected.

Some cars needed to have the battery disconnected for several minutes to cancel the memory contents.
Newer cars will not likely respnd to that since flash memory is now common which retains the error code even without power.
