Question about 1997 Nissan Maxima
When car is turned off and keys are out of ignition can't get brake lights and stop brake light to go off. This is killing battery. Changed 15 AMP Breaker under console, but still won't go off. Any help?
Your brake light switch is eith stuck or gone bad. It is located on the brake pedal and you can try to jiggle it to see if it will free itself and turn the lights off or you will need to replace it. It's a pretty easy job and relatively inexpensive. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

Check the actuators for the switches behind the brake pedal. You will find two switches. one of them is for the brake lights and the other one for the lock of the speed shift bar. Just actuate the switch with your fingers and see which switch turn off the brake lights. The dealer will have the rubber actuators in stock.
