Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Crazy electrical problem

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee gradually lost use of the driver side power lock (just driver side) then now the power windows stopped working and all the interior lights stay on while I am driving or when I shut the vehicle off. I have to turn the dimmer switch to the off position and now can't see the dashboard at night. This is driving me nuts. I checked the connector and everything inside the door is hooked up. the only switch that works is the door lock one on the front passange side. also the interior lights gone on and will not go off unless I have dashboard lights on off. Also when I use the keyless entirey the front driver door will not lock or unlock.

I have checked the ground wire in the drivers door ?????? what about B+ voltage to the switch ? These vehicles wires from the body to the door break inside the rubber boot . Looking at a wiring diagram (so U know what wire is what ) Test with test light ,voltmeter etc... Video's on youtube for testing electrical circuits . Plus these systems are controlled by a DDM - driver door module .
Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter vehicle info year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on body & accessories ,then under subsystem click on power door locks or windows . Just to give you an idea of what's involved . Watch this video , jeep ,dodge , chrysler same thing .

Wow I just had the problem fixed on my '04 jeep yesterday. The wires under the driver's side power seat were pinched and or broken. I had an electrical specialist - not a dealer- fix the problem for $85 what a deal.

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 x 2, windows and door locks work on driver side, but not passenger side.

sounds like an open power or ground circuit on passenger side, since the door lock and the window, lost its functioning. Both switches would have to be bad at the same time, which is not probable, to be the fault. Unless there is a saftey lock out switch on the drivers panel, controling the passenger side door lock and window.

Power locks and windows

You my have a "electrical gramlin" in you car.. check the whole wiring from driver side to passenger side, to the doors, under the floor mats, check all connectors. It looks like you lost the complete connection to passenger side. Maybe the conector from the body to the passenger front door is open. There is a screw in the middle of the connector, check this first.
