It is most likey the rings that are letting the oil get past thru them, try changing the engine oil first, if nothing happens you need to try the rings, its quite a days worth of work so not sure it'll be cheap, hope all goes well thanks

I have toyota hilux 2.5d4d 2kd engine it smokes allot blue smoke an engine shakes allot what can be problem

if there is a lot of blue smoke its burning engine oil and the shaking is because the plugs are not firing correctly because they are fouled by the oil. also could be plug wires worn out, distributor cap and rotor if it has one as you don`t say what year this is. the burning oil could be rings, valve seals/guides, PCV system plugged.

Smoke from engine and clugging noise then cuts off

I would trust the smoke and noise from the engine rather than a faulty temp gauge. have you checked the coolant level in the radiator and not the reservoir. The temp gauge will not give you any indication of overheating if there is no coolant to make it work

Oil leak on engine cost smoke seem like need a head gaskets

That is a good place to start. I only say this because it could be and more than likely is a bad set of rings. You can tell if there is more smoke after the car sits for a while or when you have hard acceleration. Either way you are going to have the heads off so you might as well take care of a new set of rings and have the valves serviced while you have it apart. Please don't mess your engine up putting any of those oil treatments in the motor that are supposed to stop or reduce the smoke as they will block critical oil channels and cause you a lot more trouble than they are worth.

1993 ls400 is starting however it is smoking heavily. the oil and filter was changed and the coolant topped off. the engine light is not on and the dashboard light is going off and on. any ideas???

You don't say what color the smoke is.

Blue smoke means the engine is burning oil, so it has very worn internal parts inside. (lots of miles, or very poor maintenance) Not a thing you can do about this, except rebuild the engine, or replace the engine.

Black smoke means that the engine is running too rich, getting too much gas.- Get a complete tune up.

White smoke means that the engine is burning its coolant, which means that you probably need a new head gasket (Best case) or the block, or piston sleeve, or head is cracked. If cracked block or sleeve, then you need a new engine. If head or head gasket, then you only need those parts replaced.

My daewoo nubira sw 99 expends a lot of coolant. I use water and I must refill almos every day. I don t see any grip

If you are getting a lot of white smoke from the exhaust, you likely have a blown head gasket. Other possibilities are a leaking radiator hose or a bad water pump.

Have dumped in 6.5 quarts of oil in 1000 miles- no leak signs, no smke, runs great- just loses oil.

Well the oil is going some where. check you antifreeze remove the radiator cap if there is oi in it will float on the top. Then check your transmission fluid pull out the dipstick the oil should be red it could be the rear main seal onthe engine and the oil is going into the transmission. But these are the olny places it could go if you arn't seeing oil leaking and if its in the antifreeze you would see white smoke like steam. there is something wrong it just can't disapire

Car is smoking on start up, a lot of white smoke

If the engine is using oil then first remove the dipstick and run the engine, check to see if heavy smoke is coming out of the tube, this would indicate worn piston rings,if it is not so dense, yet you are using oil and it smokes bad from the exhaust, then its likely the valve seals are worn. either way, unless you have mechanical knowledge, tools etc , you need to take it to a mechanic for the engine repairs or live with the oil consumption. There are no quick fixes for engine wear.

Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.

Heavy feul use and black smoke

It could be a lot of things, but (in general, not specific to this car) it sounds like a 'turbo' problem/turbo air leak. Can you also hear a high pitched whining sound, or something sounding like an high pressured air escaping? Check under the hood for hoses that may have worn through or become disconnected because of busted O-clamps.
