Is it sputtering like you're running out of gas? does it do it all the time? or mainly going uphill or
when the fuel is around a 1/4 tank? you may have a bad fuel pump or a clogged fuel pump filter or pre-filter in the
tank. may want to check ... there is a redesigned pump available ... it may also be covered under a
factory warranty. of course, if this is what's causing your problem. good luck

Sputtering engine and break problems, 2000 Ford Focus

The brake pedal issue is a lack of vacuum in the engine while not idling properly. There are quite a few reasons for this issue. I would have the engine codes read first to see if you have a fault code for any of the sensors. It could be any of the following, Map Sensor, TPS Sensor, O2 sensor, Temp Sensor, Fuel pressure regulator, Air intake Temp, fuel pump, broken wire, bad connection or a few other things.
Have the codes checked first to help rule out some of the more expensive items.

It could be a spark plug, plug wire, or a coil. Sometimes thay break down intermittently. If it needs a tuneup, that would be the first thing to do.

I have a 2000 ford focus that just recently when i come a stop or are idle will sputter and almost stall out. 2 days ago the car stalled out twice. any suggestions?

The first thing I look for is a broken or disconnected vacuum line. There are plastic ones that break, and rubber ones that fall off or split and leak. A vacuum gauge is a cheap tool that will tell you a lot about your motor. Check your air filter too.

2000 focus sputters and loses power

There is a recall on the fuel pump. If your car is sputtering and losing power, it is probably a fuel issue and I would suspect the fuel pump. It is a recall so the dealer has to replace it for free.
