I have a 2007 charger with 43k on it. Did the same thing this morning and when I called the dealer, of course it was out of warranty and is not covered under the power train, said that iw would cost 426.60 to fix the car and they did not mention anything about a recall. I have never taken it back for any recalls since owning it and it will be 3 years old next month. Any suggestions?

1) read your owner\'s manual. 2) reach in the shifter area after pulling out the cubbyhole liner next to it, and manipulate the pink shifter lockout tang per owner\'s manual instructions. 3) chances are the dealer put the same plastic pc of crap back in, so do an internet search and find the bille aluminum replacement part [about $20] and have that installed so it will not happen again.

Your vehicle has a brake shift interlock which simply means that it will not move out of park unless the brake is pressed in. A common cause for this to cause your interlock to cause this problem is if your brake llights are out but there could be a number of reasons for this. It's most likely electrical and you may need to have it looked at but check your fuses before you take it somewhere. it may be that simple. Below are instructions on how to override this in order to be able to shift gears and be able to drive it as well. I hope this helps and good luck.

2007 dodge charger stuck in park . What is the cost for repair ?

General public says it cost about $400 to have it done, and it's not a permanent fix. There's a plastic piece that is prone to breaking.
you can do it yourself for under $50.

Check the brake switch sensor near the brake pedal (or on the lever) to make sure that it is engaging.

Wont go into reverse

good morning and welcome to fixya
very nice car. dumb question for you, is the car still under any warranty that covers the drivetrain? it sounds like to me that the reverse shift solenoid has either one gone bad or two the wire harness going to it has an issue. are there any check engine lights on, if so have those been recovered and diagnosed yet? does the vehicle do fine in all other gears, no slipping or anything. does the auto stick work ok? let me know so i can try to help you out more. thank you
