Question about 2000 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

I have a disconnected vacuum line. it is located at the T by the hinge on the driver side. it is a short line no longer than 8 inches and comes out of the right side of the T. where does this line belong? and could it be the reason my 4x4 is not working? I have the same loose line, same non-functioning 4WD (and it's stuck where it is until I fix it). Where the ***$%*@# does it connect? I can't find anywhere to connect it, not a vacuum hose routing picture.

You might want to chk. to see if it hooks to your diafram that locks in your front axels, or to a port around the back of the plentem, you should hear it whisel when the truck is ideling. I would almost bet it goes to that diafram.

Could be a few things, if you pull the plug wires off the coil and there a little bit corroded and light green in color I would replace your coil. The easiest check is to check and see if the EGR valve and vacuum solenoid are working properly. Locate the EGR valve, It's about 6 to 8 inches from the throttle body towards the drivers side. It looks like a small stepped flying saucer about 3 inches in diameter with a vacuum line going to it. Get something like a golf "T" to fit into and plug the vacuum line once you have disconnected it. Drive the car to see if there is any improvement in driveability. If not, then there are more things to look at but those are the most common. I hope this info helps.

I Have a LT1 motor in my car. There are a"old" and

The old style fits into the timing cover that has the small hole for the actual distributor shaft. The old style also has no vacuum lines connected to it, or no provisions for vacuum lines to be connected to it.

The newer style has one vacuum line that runs from the elbow that connects the throttle body to the MAF, and another vacuum line that goes to the drivers side of the intake manifold. The timing cover has a hole about 2 inches in diameter for the newer Opti, the old version has a hole about 3/8" in diameter. If the distributor is installed look for the vacuum lines on the opti. The one that goes from the intake elbow attaches to the drivers side front in about the 2, O clock position. The one that attaches to the intake manifold attaches to the drivers side too, at about the 5, O clock position.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The operation of the manual Climate control no longer allows me to select which vent I want air, center, floor, and defrost. I only get air out of the defrost vents.

This system uses vacuum from the engine intake manifold to steer the vacuum actuator of the mode door. Fail safe position is defrost. Most of the time problem is caused by a loose vacuum line at the manifold or a shaved trough line somewhere under the hood. The line runs on the LH side off the engine (as seen from drivers position) starting on the intake manifold.

Heat only comes out of defrost

Most of the time when that happens you have lost the vacuum to the heater. Look under the hood near the fire wall for a broken or disconnected vacuum line. They are usually plastic and about 1/8 inch in diameter.

Yes it could be why your 4x4 is not working. The 4x4 on some GM vehicles works off of vacume. Also there is a shift module or switch whatever you whant to call it on the front axle and these are notorious for going bad. You can buy a manual cable set up on ebay for around $100 this will eliminate the 4X4 not engaging.

Power steering and brake line location2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

the power steering lines are very short hoses approximately 8 inches long that go from the power steering pump down to the steering box, which is located on the frame, just below the pump. The brake lines run from the master cylinder(where you fill it with fluid on the drivers side firewall) down to the frame, and then follow the frame both directions; both to the front end and the rear end, along the drivers side frame rail, just on the inside of it. The fuel line runs along the same path to the rear.
