Are you sure the alternator isnt "over" charging? if not, you may have a "loose" connection somewhere with the cables, or a malfunction in the dash cluster. Also, are you positive the battery is forsure good?

Battery light stays on after changing battery, alternater & plugin.

Is the system charging? You should have 14.2 14.6 volts at the battery. The charge light is controlled by the alternator internally. If the charging system is working, you could have a bad diode inside the alternator keeping the light on or a short/grounded circuit to the battery light

1994 ford explorer not chargeing battery good alt tested good off car

the voltage reg is internal on this alternater. so check to make sure of good ground to eng+battery. look for possible no positive 12v voltage from battery to alternator.

The battery light in my 91 ford explorer is on. i changed the alternater and the battery, when i boost it, it will run untill i take the booster cables off then it will stall out.

sounds like a bad ground cable or loose cable. also check to make sure the battery cable ends are clean and not corroded or cracked where they make contact to the battery.

F350 2004 6.0 brand new alternator not charging new batteries , battery light stays on , what could I be missing?

Just cause its a new alternator does mean it should work. I would check the charge when running cause it could just be a bad alternator.

We have a 2003 ford expedition...Last year we put in a referbished alternater and the battery light came on and we took the alternater back 3 times and they tell us it is fine but now the battery is...

I don't know for sure if your vehicle has the voltage regulator built into the altenator, A parts store could tell you, But if your doesn't then the regulator is in the ECM (computer). Sorry to say but that can't be fixed, At least by a garage. You will have to replace the computer to solve your problem.

Battery light will not go off. Battery is charged and we replaced the alternater.

Put a volt meter on the battery and start the vehicle, see if the alternator is charging to the battery,it should read 14.25 volts with all lights and blower off,and should not be less than 13.75 volts, with headlights on,and ac on high blower motor,it should read 13.65 volts,to 14.25 volts. Also check all fuses to make sure they are not blown, and make sure the large wire on the alternator shows 12 volts or more with the key off.If this wire does not show voltage,or less than battery voltage(12 volts) then that wire is not connecting to the battery positive side.

What is the proper capacity of the ford explorer 2006 Battery?

Hi the battery is a 12volt battery the alternater that charges the battery puts out about 13.5volts back into the battery to ensure it is charging fast enough so as it can power everything as well as charging the battery but the battery is a 12volt battery you can get high power 12v batts if your using alot of electrics on the car etc.

Hopefully that covers what you asked let me know if you need further assistance ok

Alternater went out and I put a rebuilt one on. the hot wire gets hot and so does the alternater after you run the car a few seonds. also the battery light stays on.

I believe the rebuilt one is not good too. If the battery light stays on it means that the system is not charging. Did you connect all the wires the same way

2003 ford ranger battery light comes on

i think it is the alternator because the idiot light is connected to your regulator of your alternator. it is an indication that your alternator is not charging anymore.

tnx 4 using fixya,
