2006 Subaru Outback radio & climate control display not working

Suddenly lost display on radio and climate control panel. Radio and AC are fully operational, however i can't see the settings. I checked the fuses and dimmer - all working. I appreciate any comments you may have. My radio is in-op...the lights flashed on and off occasionally for months...now, nothing. No lights or sound.

2006 Tribeca radio will not work, and the climate control lights do not illuminate. Checked every fuse with no problems.

The culprit fuse was under the hood - 20 amp fuse called "backup". Discovered nice cache of spare fuses and fuse puller tool in the under the hood fuse box.

Outback radio light went out.

I am a service advisor for Subaru, and one of two things happened. Either your headlights are still on and this causes the lights on the radio to become extremely dim during the day. The other issue is the radio itself. It is not uncommon for these radios to go bad. They should be covered under factory warranty. If yours is out raise hell with the dealer and see if you can get assistance. If the dealer wont cooperate, ask for customer dealer services number and raise hell with them. They will call the dealer and try to get help for you. Good luck
