Question about 2000 Jaguar S-Type
OK, due to the mechanical build of this type of electronically controlled torque/gearbox pack, the above recommendation given by the jaguar tech are unfortunately true. This transmission build is very sophisticated in its design. You stated you get the Gear box light when driving up a incline or during driving actions. This is common gear pack damaged and the gears are striping. this will destroy the torque converter and create massive gear pack ware. Jaguar dose not rebuild this type of transmission. it will require a total replacement of the transmission at this moment.
It is possible to replace the torque converter but, the gear pack will still be an issue and , it will destroy a newly installed torque convert, I understand the enormous price for this total transmission replacement is staggering but, it is necessary in this case. replacing the torque converter will only delay the inevitable.
