Fuse #3, 15 amp controls the motor for the pedals.

There is a difference in diagnostics depending on whether you have memory seats & pedals or not.
Check for obstruction stuck in motor.
report back with results.

please rate as solved if this helps. thanks

What caused brake lights to fail?

The brake light switch connected to the brake pedal has a tendency to either stick and leave the lights on when stopped or fail completely. Replacement of the switch should get things back to normal.

Having two problems, wont start in park, have to put into neutral to start, also no brake lights, fuses are fine. Help please. 2001 ford windstar

Look at the top of your Brake pedal for a switch. It needs to send a signal for the brake lights and the release of the gearshift/starter solenoid lockout.

Drivers feet often move or break this switch and a good indication the problem is there is having no brake lights.

It is a bit odd that you can move the gearshift at all without the signal from the brake switch. The idea of having these extra parts is to prevent the van from starting without your foot on the brake or getting out of Park without your foot on the brake.

So you may have to fix more than just the brake switch. There may be a misalignment or broken part on the shifter lockout.

My 2001 ford windstars brake lights won't work. I

There is a brake light switch operated via the brake pedal. Once the switch wears out there is nothing to activate the brake lights. You will have to have the brake light switch replaced if a check of the vehicles wiring for the lighting is shown to be all in order.

Sounds like since the park lock and the brake lights are both inoperative, the faulty component would be the brake light switch which should be just above the brake pedal under the dash.

More info, let me know.

We have a 2001 Ford Windstar and noticed today that none of the rear lights are working. Is there a fuse that may have blown for this to happen all at once or something else?

There is brake switch that is located on the brake oedal bracket, just to the right of the steering column mount. Youl need to remove the left side under dash panel to get to the switch and connector.
If the brake lights are inoperative, check the fuse.
If fuse is Ok, check the voltage at the light bulb socket when switch is not presed and when is presed. If there is no voltage back to the light bulb replace brake switch.

i Dont Know Where Its Located On Your Car But There Is A Safety Switch On The Gear Gearshift That Keeps It From Being Put in A Gear Unless The Brake pedal Is Pushed Im Not Sure If The Activaton Switch Is Tied In With The Brake Light Switch But Check And See If your Brake lights Work If They Dont Change The Switch Its Under Dash on The Brake Pedal If They Still Work Then The Switch For The Safety Release on Shifter Is A seperate Switch It Should Be Close To The Brake light Switch At The Brake Pedal
    Hope This Works For You
