Car Overheated - Won't Start

My car overheated last week, I let it cool down for more than 1 hour. It tried to start the car but it would not start. Brand new battery, there is gas in the car, It passed inspection a couple of weeks ago. I had it towed to my house. Thanks

So, all we have to really diagnose the problem is that the car has overheated and it won't start even though there is a good battery in place and plenty of gas. I'm not there in person, so I'd rely on this handy, diagnostic article on this issue of yours, which clearly specifies the probable causes of this overheating; just go down the list to see if they apply to you: lack of radiator maintenance, faulty radiator overall, radiator tubes clogged, faulty fan, faulty water pump belt, faulty thermostat, leaking hoses, faulty exhaust system, or AC / radiator fins are damaged/misaligned. Check the article out for a better explanation:

THis should help solve your problem!

engine got probably way too too hot could blowed head gasket cracked cylinder head.depends on how low coolant got if coolant level got close empty probably got engine damage.if coolant didnt get too low wait until engine cool down try cranking it.engine could have got so hot burned out ignition module.

Car overheated now won't start

If you got it that hot then you have most likely blown the engine cylinder head gasket and have coolant in the cylinders. At this point I would look for a good repair shop or if the car is already in poor shape replace it if possible. You could end up with about a $3000.00 repair bill on this if you burnt the engine down..

My 97 gran prix overheated and shut itself. And now won't start. The Atifrz leaked out and engine overheated.

sometimes when an engine gets hot enough it will stop running due to the metal expansion when it is hot.if it cools off it will probably start but don`t run it very long especially without coolant.the thermostat may have seized in the closed position this sometimes happens as when the car is running the temperature flucuates the stat will close and open all the time(won`t close completely).another problem could be a bad head gasket that allowed coolant into the combustion chamber enough that the motor went into what is called hydraulic lock, coolant has filled the combustion chamber enough that the piston won`t move through out its normal travel.i would try changing the thermostat first refill cooling system and let run until the cooling fans have cycled on and off.if it doesn`t overheat and it cranks over when you try to start it then the stat is more than likely the problem.

1999 XK8 showing these codes after engine has been overheated car wont start battary is shot god only nos what else been parked for two weeks got jump to work on it ran fine and started fine before it...

Overheating is problem, not codes. Codes only secondary from overheating.
Borrow cooling system pressure tester.
Replaces cooling system cap.
Pump up above cap pressure.
Watch that gauge does not go down.
If it does, then leak.
If you can't find it, try filling with coolant again, and over pumping.
Check for water in spark plugs from head gasket.
Run engine.
If gauge oscillates, then bad head gasket.
Always replace thermostat after overheating.
Make sure belts tight.
Charge battery.
If when you try to start, if voltage drops below 10, then either battery bad, start bad, or engine binding.
If it goes back to 12 when you stop cranking, it is not the battery.
If the engine is binding, it will not be easy to turn by hand, even with plugs out.
