Question about 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

The e-brake light on the dash of my '89 Chev blazer S-10 blinks.

It had been staying on constantly, now it blinks quickly 13 times, 1 long, pattern repeats. Any suggestions?

If you have Anti-Lock Brakes, have them checked. Otherwise it is most likely your master cylinder, check the fluid level, and if it is fine you will need to replace it. Your pedal feel may not feel diminished, but it will definitely need to be replaced soon... of course if its not an ABS issue. If you do replace your master cylinder, follow the instructions and most certainly bench bleed it. It could be catastrophic with out it.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER MONITOR

Condition of A/T: Selector lever D range.
Engine coolant temperature: Not set.
Time required: 16 minutes or more.
Drive cycle pattern: One trip monitor (from start to ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position). Will be completed while traveling with the following drive cycle pattern.
Test Procedure
Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 89 km/h (55 mph) or more.
Travel for 300 seconds or more while keeping the vehicle speed at 89 km/h (55 mph) or more.
Decelerate until the vehicle speed is within 80 km/h (50 mph) or less.
While traveling at 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) for 10 minutes or more, fully close the throttle at least once in 2 minutes and decelerate for 10 seconds or more.
Do not repeat deceleration too often.
Vehicle speed may go below 56 km/h (35 mph) after the deceleration.
Stopping and braking are permitted. (If stopped or drive at 56 km/h (35 mph) or less for more than 5 minutes the monitoring may be stopped. In this case please restart monitoring from the beginning.)
After completing the above deceleration, bring the vehicle speed back to 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) and keep it in the range until starting the deceleration again.
Repeat the above deceleration at least 5 times.
Return the vehicle to the shop, then turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position

Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph).
While traveling 16 minutes or more at 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) with engine speed 2,000 r/min or above, fully close the throttle at decelerate for 5 seconds or more until the engine speed reaches 1,000 r/min or under.
Do not repeat deceleration too often.
Stopping and braking are permitted (Rapid deceleration and sharp steering are not permitted).
After completing the deceleration, bring the vehicle speed back to 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) and keep it in the range until starting the deceleration again.

How do you reset the brake light on a 89 s-10 blazer? I tried pulling up on the parking brake while releasing it and the dash light stays on steady.


this light will also come on if you are low on brake fluid if its low top it off a little but this is also an indicator of a leak or brake wear from there check the switch when the pedel hits it for adjustment and whether it is workin properly

1996 ABS light


the abs light will come on when you turn key on and go off after engine starts (3secs),it will also come on if you brake harder than required,to stop the wheels locking.If it comes on at other times it could be reservoir needs topping up or an abs fault(check it by standing on brake pedal at 30kph(wheels should not lock up until 3/5kph.)read antilock brakes or antiblocking brakes, 2 different systems.

Chevy S-10 brake lights stay on all the time


The brake light switch is located is located under the
dash, at top of the brake peddle.
To test the sw, use a 12v test light check for constant power out of the switch, with nothing else on. If there's pwr. out replace the switch.

Brake light on vehicle lit up on dash


check the parking brake sometimes a slight bump can make that light come on... pull it up then disengage it roll the car back and forth and see if it goes out.. 2nd make a heavy salt and water solution and completely drench the brake calipers with it move vehicle back and forth working brake...then spray off immeaditaly with a hose... this should clean up the abs sensors... if ithe light still stays on it may be a malfuction in the cars obds ( on board diagnosis systems..) unpluge positive termianl from your car let it set off for like 3 mins then put it back and start car see if the light stay on after you take it for a drive... if none if these work take to your dealer ship to replace the abs sensors... it wont be cheap....

thats a common placc for them to rust out you will need 10 feet of 1/4 in. brake line that will go front to back
