Question about 1999 Ford Escort

1 Answer

My battery wont hold a charge even when jumped.

I took my car in and they said my battery was dead, so i said to please replace it. Now the car wont start, hold a charge longer than two minutes and the radio doesnt work either. Is it the battery, alternator, or did i get screwed by the shop?

The battery may have been bad. They replaced it, and probably neglected to test the alternator. You now need to have both tested.

Infiniti G35 wont open

You can not jump a dead battery

That is also an unsafe practice

Have to disconnect any battery that is
dead & try to charge it first or replace,
if it is over 4 to 5 years old & died

Reversed polarity on jump start. now wont go into gear or hold charge

OLder cars YEs you can jump it without a battery. But in newer cars that use computers and advanced Eltronic ignition/timing/ful injection you have to have power to the cars computer. without a good battery the car will not run.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1997 Monte Carlo battery wont stay charged after a jump. The car will warm up then when turned off won't turn over it makes a clicking noise when ignition is terned.

Could be a bad battery, and or alternator, if the alternator does not charge the battery when the vehicle is running your battery will drain causing no start.

2003 protege5 wont start unless jumped and dies after about 30 seconds.

Need to check battery condition first. Is it the original battery? If yes chances are it needs to be replaced. May have a dead cell or 2 & will not hold a charge. When it ran before this, was the check battery/charging light on? Also verify charging system is working correctly.

Dead Battery wont even stall should I charge it using jumper cables??

You can jumpstart using jumper cables. Then drive car around to get battery charged back up or get a battery charger and charge battery.
