Unhooking Battery Cables

I need to reset the system on my 2003 Cavalier. I was told to unhook the cables from the battery for around 5 minutes to do so. I can not figure out how to unhook the cables.

Well I just recently had the spark plugs and fuel filter replaced, and the check engine light came on the next day. The car seems to be running fine. I have had the car scanned before when the light was on by random, and it said something about an o2 filter. I've been told that, that is a pretty common thing to come up on Cavaliers.
And I've just been told that unhooking the battery would clear that check engine light.

Cable ends are attached by two 5/16 fasteners (one on each) Remove negative first, Positive goes back on first.

Unhooking the battery won't clear the code it's still stored in the hard set memory go to shcucks and have them scan the computer ask them to see if the codes are cleared if not you can clear them they can't it is an OBDII car once you have cleared the problem drive it and see if it comes back, be sure to get the codes printed out before clearing the codes the mechanic will need them if it comes back, there are hard codes and soft codes soft codes can be reset by unhooking the battery but not hard codes. Don't bother with unhooking the battery.

New plugs, new dist cap,new coil new ign. control module new fuel filter ,wont start

Fuel system checked? If OK, did you "reset" the ECC also called the ECM or PCM which is the computer of the vehicle? Do it by unhooking "both" battery cables, waiting 15 minutes, rehook then try to start and see if this helps. If not you may have to start on the ground floor by checking all fuses, crank and cam sensors, ICM, etc.

The check hybrid warning came on in my 2012 Pruis after I changed a fuse for the cigarette lighter power. The car will not move.

You most probably let the computer know you messed with the electrical system in some way. Most computer need to be reset. On most cars this can be done by unhooking both battery cables for about 15 minutes, but if this does not work, you will have to get the info from a dealer on how to reset it.
