I made sure it was in park and the battery is fine.

I realized the security light on the dash was staying on and It turned out to be the the security sensor inside the steering column had worn out. Most likely caused from the overloaded key ring my son was toting around.

Are you sure it's all the way in park and your battery is fully charged?

You are reading this wrong...solenoids don't turn. They activate the starter...that turns. Check your battery connections and battery/charging system. The starter requires far more power than anything else in the car, so those items working won't tell you much.

I have a 95' lumina, recently the car started acting funny.when i go to start the car it clicks once or twice before starting and once it starts sometimes it only stays on for a sec then turns off again.Once its running its good for a while but then if its idling it starts to sound like its losing power and is going to stall. At that point i either give it some gas an power will come back or it will just turn off.
PLease help everyone one else thinks its either starter or fuel pump.
Thanks
R.s

There is a fuse from the ignition switch. There is also a fusible link. Below is a wiring diagram that you can look at and it has the wire colors as well. This I hope will help you narrow down your power loss to the solenoid. If you need anymore wiring diagrams for your vehicle I have them all and you are free to email me at csautomotivecars@att.net with what you need. No cost, Being nice cause it's Sunday....LOL Anyway, I hope this helps you and good luck. Here's your diagram

sounds like you have a lame solenoid on the starter .i'd start there.get a voltage tester and test for 12 volts at the solenoid terminal if there is 12 volts and the starter still doest engage when you hit the key test the ignition wire on the solenoid when you turn the key it should apply 12 volts as well .if works then take the starter out and find a good repair shop and try a new solenoid first then the starter is next to test .

Bad solenoid i would guess. Not making a connection there. Any basic wiring and ignition switch problems should be alleviated by jumping the starter with a screwdriver. I would check the solenoid and starter brushes
