I have this exact problem 1998 528i, although it extends to a few other accessories. When my Radio does not turn on, the following does not work either. Horn, BRAKE LIGHTS, Visor Lights, Trip Computer, Cruise Control, Window Full Wind Down (although oddly the full wind up still works). Getting a Full Inspection Service soon so hopefully they can suss it out.

91 Dodge Dakota, truck starts fine. No horn or lights. Fuses checked and were OK. Please Help.

Check voltage and ground for any component you are missing? Any applicable fuses, check for voltage at the fuse circuit, use a testlight to check for voltage. Of course ground is important also for the particular system.
