my escort ven w reg the wiring has melted, it kept blowing the fuse (22) position 20apm fuse then i could smell burning and some smoke was coming out of my bonnet, i've had a look and traced the wire to a plug that goes to my diesel pump, any idea;s??!!

In most cases like this, the petrol tank was over-filled (petrol was "nursed in" and saturated the fuel vapour charcoal canister. It may take some time for the canister to dry enough and rid the apparent fuel vapour smell. If not, you may want to consider changing the charcoal canister.

You also may want to check for leaks or loose fittings from the filler nozzle to the tank as well.

the tacho runs off the altenator on the diesel variant ,but runs from the ECU on the petrol model look at one thats fitted as original and see hows its wired

yes it's a lot of work but another engine from an escort the same as yours should fit onto mounts, gearbox ect

The advice that the garage gave you seems right. If any bushes were worn they would show up on the MOT Test. Try taking it to another garage to check out the Cat for your peace of mind.

go to DVLA website and there is online vehical enquiry service you have to put there vehical registration number record will come infront of you and about oil its strange there must be some leak if you are talking about engine oil and new boots and wish bones mean car used roughly better to avoid it if you need any more info let me know

The easiest way to find fuel filters is to start at the petrol tank and work forwards some put them just infront of the petrol tank others are just befor the engine bay you should be able to follow you fuel lines from either end and it should be about 1.5 feet from motor or just after tank

leaking gas tank or fuel lines? Buy a locking fuel cap.
