Pull the spark plugs to see which cylinder is burning the oil. The spark plug will be black or even wet with oil. There are three main reasons an engine will burn oil. 1) worn piston rings, 2) leaking valve stem seals and 3) a bad PCV valve.

SOURCE: 2008 Toyota Tacoma Excessive brake pedal

Your dealer is not lying to you.
All of the Toyota product line with ABS has this phenomenon. What Toyota has done is incorporate "Brake Force Distribution" into the braking system. What that means is there is now a sensor on the brake pedal/brake rod, going to the master cylinder. The sensor measures how FAST you press on the brake pedal. This activates the ABS pump, and supplies more brake fluid, harder, to reduce the time needed, such as a "panic stop"; the pedal travel is much longer than you are used to, because of the way they have to measure the speed of the rod being depressed. In actuality, this system is much better than the old system, as it also prevents wheel drag. It just takes a while to get used to. Really, there is nothing to worry about, I explain this same thing to my customers every week.

I hope this helps you out.

SOURCE: what do the dash lights on a toyota landcruiser

I don't have one of those vehicles but in the Path Finder it meant Low oil pressure or low oil. If your oil level is correct get the oil pump checked out before the engine is damaged.

SOURCE: broken sub tank switch in 80 series toyota landcruiser

Replace it. Most switches are mounted to plastic snap clips than can be removed with a simple Flathead screwdriver.A $5 plastic pry tool set is the best, but a butter knife or two works wonders sometimes.

I have a 200 series landcruiser 2008 sahara, Traveling along at 100kph and had sudden loss of power, then no oil pressure. Now have loud ticking or knock. Could this be oil pump failure ???

Yes, Kim, it could.
It could also be: 1) it ran out of oil.
2) The oil screen clogged with sediment and stopped allowing the oil to flow.
3) The oil filter clogged with sediment and allowed the oil to stop flowing.
4) Something else I had not thought of.
If it is valuable to you, you should not try to drive it, as the engine may break internally and be ruined.
It should be towed to a repair garage.
God bless your efforts.

THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL ON MY 2008 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER APPEARS EXCESSIVE AFTER MY FIRST BRAKING, BUT SEEMS TO RECOVER A LITTLE AFTER I PUMP THE BRAKE A FEW TIMES. WHATS UP?

My 2008 Landcruiser has the same problem. I am concerned the long travel delays brake action and could be dangerous. I have raised it with the dealer 3 times, paying for a brake fluid change the second time but did not help. Third time the dealer told me he test drove new 2010 vehicle and the brakes "felt the same". DaveA

You can get a replacement seat from a wrecking yard and would guess you would pay around $75.00 to $100.00 for the seat or you could go to a reupholster and have it redone like new for somewhere around $150 to $200.
