Question about 1997 Ford Escort

1 Answer

About 1-2 times a week my escort does'nt start all the way.

Last month I had 2 spark plug wires burn on a hot part of the motor, so I replaced plugs and wires. The car still did'nt start properly so I replaced the ignition coil. That seemed to have fixed everything for a few days, but now sometimes when I start the car it acts like it wants to die and has power loss for about 2 minutes

Cylinder 3 misfiring on a 97 gmc jimmy 4wd. Did a tune up about 2 months ago (ignition, wires, coil, spark plugs), replaced fuel pump last week, used fuel injector cleaner, still no luck...any ideas?

go back and check all the plugs, wires and the total tune up. check your firing order, and timing. put a timing lite on the plug wires and if the plug is bad it will show with the light. lol.

1995 Gmc Jimmy will not start.

Sounds more like the "crank position sensor" a small crack can cause your starting problems...NO, none of this means replace the motor:( YES do replace plugs, wires, clean air filter, spray out throttle body with injector cleaner, use specific "mass air flow sensor" spray cleaner only and clean that too...located near the air filter... A dose of the right TLC should add many miles of fun to your Blazer...Hope this helps.

Take a compression test on # 4. It may be a little oil burning w coolant getting by the head gasket. POSSIBLE faulty injector or not firing on time. Ck for any oil in the anti freeze or anti freeze in the oil.

My 97 ford escort will start but misses and runs rough

When was the last time you replaced the plugs and wires. Sounds like it needs a tune-up. Replace the spark plugs and wires also run a good fuel treatment thru it.

My 1991 Ford Escort GT has been hesitating for the last couple weeks, particularly at low RPMs, and then last night while it sat idling in my driveway, it slowed down, started shaking, then stopped...

Check the timing, if it is way off the belt has jumped and the cam is out of time, also are there any burn marks on the insulators of the spark plug wires that go down into the head?? that is a common problem, If the car is a hig miler then replace the wires with a high quality set, don't use cheapo wire sets. One other thing make sure the rubber intake hose is properly connect to the MAF sensor and intake throttle body and has no cracks or leaks
