Question about 1995 Chevrolet Blazer

2 Answers

Won't start Blazer was running fine. Suddenly, it turns over, but won't start. We tried til battery ran dead. Tried jumping it, didn't work. Almost like there is a kill switch, or emergency fuel shut-off. Replaced one fuel relay switch (5 prongs), but there is an open spot for another (4 prong). Don't know if both are supposed to be there, or just one. We bought it about 3 months ago, and it ran for about a month. Passed DEQ fine 2 weeks before it stopped running. Any ideas?

Begin by isolating the problem to ignition or fuel. If it starts briefly when you crank it and spray carb cleaner into the throttle body then the problem is likely in the igniton system. Check for spark and work your way back through system.

Have you tried to jump started ? If your jeep starts when giving it a jump, you may have a bad battery. Check fuses for fuel and ignition systems. If your battery is bad, could be because the alternator is not charging it. Might want to have this component tested.

My car won't turn on it was working fine last

Just because you charged the battery it doesn't mean it is any good. Modern sealed batteries fail; just as you described, fine one moment and then nothing, they go open internally.

My car wont start

If it won't crank, the battery could have failed or you could have a faulty connection between the battery and starter.

Battery is new, engine won't turn over.

The voltmeter should only go as high as 14-15 volts when the engine is running. I would check for a poor connection between the battery and starter.

1992 toyota pickup won't start and battery won't charge

Sounds like your battery is just too dead, has enough juice to light up the system for a minute but cranking drains it and if it wont charge then deff fried, you could try removing the battery and starting the car with cables to confirm the starter still works. If a bettery is too dead then when you are jumping it, it takes to much of the power just trying to get through the battery.

The car was running fine one day then the next day it would not start. We tried jumping it thinking the battery might be dead and it still would niot start. The car has power until we take the jumper...

Sounds like you have a toasted battery or alternator. Have you performed a load test on the battery? Have you tried to charge the battery? First remove the battery and charge it externally from the vehicle. If the battery won't hold a charge, or won't hold a charge of 12 volts, replace it. Once you have the vehicle started, test the operation of the alternator. It should be putting out at least 13 volts back to the battery to keep it charged - if it is putting less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts, replace the alternator.

Hi there !

I won't say its an alternator problem because the alternator only charges the battery when its on, And it should start with the jump cables even if the battery and the alternator are bad. your Issue is not clear. Does the car start when you jump it ?
