Question about 1999 Ford Windstar

Rusted subframe sub frame is rusted and motor mount is not sitting the way it is suppose to be. need to know if it's the right term or correct me

    subframe sounds right, Iv'e also heard people call it a cradle. Same advice...get one from a junkyard.

You may need to get rid of it. If the frame is rusted, it's only going to get worse. If the motor mount is not sitting just right, it will only get worse too. I would either sell it as is or have a welder to look at it to see if it's repairable.

your sub frame is holding the engine in place and if its rusted to a state where the structure is seriously weakened.
at this point garage will not let you or other road user face risk

I really don't think this is a project you will undertake. The subframe is the frame that is attached to the front under part of your car. It holds all front suspension, steering, and mounts engine and transmission. The sub frame is held in place with at least 4 big bolts. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

yep,had one like that ,have to support the engine and trans
with a bar and chains or whatever ,from the top and the subframe
comes out from under.not too bad ,the steering rack bolts are the
hardest thing,couple of motor mount bolts and the corner body
to frame mounts

Hi i need to change motor mounts on my 2005 pacifica never dont it before too espensive in the shop can you tell me how dificul it is thsnk you

you have to lift the engine out of the vehicle far enough to remove bolts this can be a complicated process

What is a sub frame on a auto

The Subframe is a metal frame like enclosure that surrounds the Engine /Transmission. The Engine/ Trans drops into the Subframe and in turn is bolted to it via Engine Mounts and the Subframe is in turn bolted to the uni-body of your car via Subframe Mounts.

yes a subframe from 91-94 will work.
