This is not hard to do, first remove all the steering column plastic, then you'll see two bolts with no heads on them. Take a chisel and a hammer and loosen the bolts, counterclockwise. Install the same way except the new lock assembly will have reverse hex screws you torque down until the heads break off. good luck.

Boyd, the dealer can change ignition and fobs/remotes and the program to differ from original.

My 2004 ford PU was stolen when I got it back they had bust the ignition and used a screw driver to start it. Can I bypass the ignition and if so how? Thank you

No you do it properly and have the ignition barrel replaced together with any other broken parts. It's not a major exercise and it can be done for you in a day when the parts are available.

My ninety nine Acura Cl was stolen and ignition switch was damaged so I bought a new one and it came with three keys two black and one gray key after installation the car will turnover but wont start...

Question?. do you still have the original keys. The reason that I ask is you have 2 options, take the car to a dealer (towed) and they can reset the computer. Option 2 is easier, take your original key and your new ignition (obviously you know how to remove the barrel because you have changed it), take both to a good locksmith and have your new lock recoded to your old key (take the keys so they can remove the barrell), this will allow you to use your old key and your computer will forget that it was stolen The option is yours

Will not start after installing new battery . Old battery was stolen from car . All fuses OK. Fuel pump is OK. Spark appears a bit week when plug wire tested to earth while engine is cranked .Could it be...

if the battery was removed wrong it could have damaged the ecu. the ecu does not like the positive lead removing first. even without the ignition being on a little power still goes into the ecu. you might be able to repair the ecu some ecu's in the old type ecus had a fuse on the ecu board it could of just blown this.

check your fuses they probably shorted something blowing your fuses, if not that check plug in for light switch in back it may have got pulled or by coincidence the light switch may have gone bad. when you pull the switch do your dash lights come on if not it is in the switch
