Question about 1996 Buick Regal Olympic Gold

New ceramic brake pads grinding

When I am driving and braking, my new ceramic brake pads continue to grind in revolutions. I have lubed the caliper, have a brand new rotor, brand new brake pads, etc...why is it still grinding?

Check the metal guard on the back of the rotor to make sure it's not touching the rotor. Are you certain that the noise is from the brakes or the bearing hub, that can be noisy as well?

It is never normal for your brakes to "grind". A lil squeaky, not so bad. Grinding, not so good. I would take it back to whoever replaced them and have them checked. Ceramic pads are better pads because the stop you better and last longer than matallic pads, and the also create less dust, but they should not be grinding. It could be a sign of improper installation or a sign of bad or worn rotors. Definately have it checked out.

My brakes on my 1996 ford explorer are grinding really bad i know i need new pads but what also should i replace?

If they are grinding, likely there is no brake material left on the pads. Rotors are not as thick as older ones were so once they are scored, they need to be replaced. Other than that, clean everything off really well and make sure the slides on the calipers are free. (if not, remove and lube them).

You did not mention working on the rear brakes, so I must assume that the rear brakes are still original equipment. Perhaps the grinding noise is coming from the rear.

I replaced brake rotors and pads on front end.Now the driver side brakes grinds and when i stop the car,i noticed this side is smoking. I'm pretty sure i assembled it correctly.

You obviously need to take it back apart and see what the issue is. Did you install the pad backwards?? You could have cocked the piston when you compressed it back in .

Grinding sound when I break and after I break. It

You are correct. The pad has worn down to the steel backing pad, and now you will have to replace your brake rotor as well.

Rear brakes are grinding on one side.

Replace the pads and see if rotor that pad was grinding on can be resurfaced. If not replace it.While you have it apart lube the caliper slide's with anti-seeze or a brake lube so the caliper can move smoothly.

Brakes are making loud grinding noise when slowing down to stop or on an incline

Ok, it could be a few things, 1. bad break caliper. 2. if you have ceramic breaks, it could be a cracked brake pad, and if they are not ceramic they can still be cracked. 3. if you drive a lot then it could be that you need new breaks again.. 4. also have your back breaks checked along with the front ones..

The front left brake on my 99 malibu grinds as i drive, and pulls to one side as i brake

Bad caliper, or you just need to rebuild your caliper. The grinding noise is likely caused from the pads being bad and the rivets are grinding on the rotor. I recommend if you are a handy person, rebuild the caliper, if not then buy a new one and replace it and bleed the brakes

When pressing on the break a loud grinding noise comes from beneath the car

Your brake pads are shot, and the noise you hear is the metal of the caliper grinding on the rotor. If this just started happening, you can probably save the rotor and just buy pads. If the rotor's surface is gouged or scraped badly, you'll need new rotors too. Don't drive the car unless you are driving it to a shop to have the brake work done - it's very dangerous as you have greatly diminished stopping power.

Oh, and if they try to tell you that you need new calipers too, trust me - you don't. When the calipers grind on the rotor, the rotor takes the damage. Pay for new rotors, new pads, and I'd have them do a full flush and fill of the brake fluid too (never hurts to do this).
