so u think it has somthing to do wih the fuel filter, maybe pump..or fuse...i should check into that area..the engine light didnt come on. when it did it read ramdon miss fire

i had the wires and plugs replaced. while driving it seems that you have to take your foot off the gas pedal and on again inorder to go up a gear . it seems like the truck is going to stall but instead it just slows down

The things you may want to look at first is the fuel filter (if it wasnt replaced), the CAT (if it has over 100k miles or has been burinng oil), a cylinder compression test and check the timing. Does the truck idle smooth?Did the truck get a COMPLETE tune-up? And are the symptoms constant?

I would have looked at and/or replaced cap, rotor, maybe plugs and wires ( if needed), if I had a random missfire code but reduced fuel pressure, clogged air filter, or a clogged CAT can cause a miss fire code too. I dont know what you have for tools but you need to start at the engine go foward to the fuel system, the exhaust system, and even check the fuel cap, werd but even a missing or defective fuel cap can cause related issues. If you dont have a good scan tool to go into the ECM and check how componants are doing and check componants, to see if they are within peramiters. All you can do is look at what you can, do what you can do, and if all else fails then sent it to your mechanic. Sorry but the vehicles today arnt like they used to be. they are more complex. Good luck. If I can answer any thing else please let me know.

This sounds a lot like a couple of plugged torq converter cases I have seen. If the car is humming along (instead of quite, purr, or roar) and you lack power, then the converter is likely the problem
You can take the car to a muffler shop and have it checked. You CAN do it yourself, by cutting the exhaust pipe right before the converter, but you have to fix the exhaust RIGHT AWAY! This check leaves you sitting right over a Carbon di Oxide leak that could kill you.

Check your fuel filter- may be partially plugged- replace it.

Change the fuel filter- if that does not fix it- replace the fuel pump and stariner on the pump.

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

I think a local shop will be better at that than a dealer

1977 chevy with a turbo 350 slipping out of gear

Check the TV (throttle valve) cable, if that's out of adjustment the trany will think you want passing gear. Try disconnecting the cable at the carburator, that should make it shift into high gear at about 25 MPH and stay in high until you slow down. If it fails to stay in high gear then you have major problem. Are there a lot of miles on it? Are you sure you have enough fluid in it? Does the fluid smell burned. It might be just worn out. Good luck!

Car died while driving down the highway

Needs tuning. Also replace fuel and air filters. If that doesn't help then it may need piston ring replacement.
