yes it is common. but first have your battery tested, that some times causes the s&m lights to flash throwing a xyz switch fault

That is a AC compressor problem.
It may be no compressor oil in that compressor

at the bottom of the selector rod in the gearbox is a snall shaped cam which operates two switches one for foreward and one for reverse its possible that this has broke or its a computer malfunction also the front clutch has failed or low on oil maybe even the drive plate for the torque converter has broken in the middle but this would be noisy i would expect but not always
