Question about 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

98 jetta with no a/c

I have a 98 jetta with a 2.0l the a/c dosen't come on, evacted and recharged and nothing changed, all fuses are good, a wirind diagram would be nice or any help yah seperate post my a/c recently broke also and my high pressure valve stem blew from pressure could it possible be the expansion vavle clogged up causing that pressure btw the rad fans do not come on

    i was sitting at a light and all of a sudden i hear a loud pop and a hisssing sound with vibrations for about 8 seconds and then my comprer4ssor shut off and blew warm air (im in FL its hot) i replaced my high pressure vavle stem it was spewing freon everywhere
    and yet no turnover on the compressor i wonder if it could be a relay switch becuase my radiotor fans are not coming on or a clogged expansion valve
    thankyou for any help u can give

Sounds like a line popped. Usually the line above the fans coming from the condenser pops off by the crush fitting. If there's no freon in the system the compressor will not run.

The lower hose of the engine block just behind the alternator is where you will find the thermostat.

I am recharging the AC in my 98 Jetta their are 2 threaded valves, one connected to a large steel hose the other connected to a smaller one, Which one do I use to recharge?


mcdevito75 here, Follow each steel line , the one that goes into the firewall is the 1 you need find the port on that tube and recharge your A/C, plus your rechrage kit should only fit this port. Chargeing port may be covered with a brass like cap un screw and there"s the port.

1999 Jetta change battery, radio dead


Actually pull out the radio fuse for 15 seconds and then re-install. Mine usta just quit working once in a great while, and this was the fix. Radio fuse #42 if this is a "New Jetta A4 body" or fuse # 22 on an older "A3 body style"

Fuses are located either in the engine compartment or passenger compartment fuse and relay panels.

Where is the fuse box on a 98 vw jetta


On my 98 Jetta it's located left of the steering wheel on the bottom-most part of the panel.

Car is overheating


when coolant is refilled it has to be evactated, basiscally a vacuum of 1.8 to 2.0 which only the dealer has. the coolant system holds air and no matter how you fill it. it has to be vaccumed out
