Electrica, maybe alternator

I got in my car in the morning, and when i started it , the battery light came on, but i did need to get to work, and it seemed to be running fine. got to work fine, started up after work fine, but light still on, but on the drive home, my air bag light came on, then my radio cut out and died, and my dash lights started flashing, car became really bogged down, and seems like the tranny kept coming out of gear. so i pulled over, seemed to idle fine for the moment, shut the car off, then it wouldnt start, lights would come on, i try and start and just a click would happen, , had to get a tow home, and seems like i lost all power, could this be a dead alternator, or some other issue
