Question about 1995 Dodge Dakota

1 Answer

No start. Electrical. turns over. something electrical

It periodically would not start.  slowly got worse.  I think its the computer because when it wouldnt start i could hit my automatic overdrive button and when it would turn off it would start.  Now the auto overdrive button doesnt work at all and wont start.  Very  Strange as i know everything from plugs and wires and cap and rotor are all good.

My tomberlin punisher 150 go-cart will not start what could be the problem its not the starter i think tis something electrical

check the spark at the plug, work out from there. without hearing it turn over, or even smelling it while you cranked it, I'm not certain... by that I mean... does it try to start or does it just turn over. is there a strong odor of unburned gas? these would all point to a lack of spark.

Removed gas tank guard now won't start

Overtime, Jeep Grand Cherokee fuel tanks develop rust and accumulate sediment. This is especially true if the tank sits empty for a period of time. Rust and sediment can break loose and cause clogged filters. When the filter is clogged, the engine does not receive the amount of fuel required to operate. The fuel tank can be cleaned out; however, replacing the tank is easier.
  • 1 Apply the parking brake.

  • 2 Remove the gas cap.
  • 3 Remove the fuel pump relay from the power distribution center under the hood. Look at the underside of the power distribution cover, and locate the fuel pump relay.

  • 4 Attempt to start the engine, cranking the engine for several seconds.
  • 5 Turn the ignition to "Off." Install the fuel pump relay.
  • 6 Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
  • 7 Lift the fuel tank into position, using the jack.

8 Attach the fuel filler hose and vapor return hose to the fuel tank.Tighten the clamps with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • 9 Pivot the fuel tank retaining straps into position. Tighten the fuel tank retaining strap nuts with a socket and ratchet. Lower the jack.

  • 10 Connect the fuel pump electrical connector, the fuel filter line and the fuel return line. Push the fuel line retainer into the chassis.
  • 11 Raise the heat shield. Install the mounting bolts. Tighten the mounting bolts with a socket and ratchet.
  • 12 Install the tow hooks or trailer hitch, if equipped.
  • 13 Lift the skid plate into position with the jack. Tighten the skid plate mounting bolts with a socket and ratchet.
  • 14 Attach the electrical service connector to the bumper with a socket and ratchet.
  • 15 Raise the jack and remove the jack stands. Slowly, lower the vehicle.
  • 16 Pour the fuel into the gas tank. Connect the negative battery cable.

My 2005 kia sorento wont start after engine replacment, has fuel spark n power

You need to scan the entire computer network in your vehicle. It is possible that the security system has the engine disabled because it "thinks" that somebody was trying to steal your car. This can happen when the battery gets disconnected. Or is is also possible that the mechanic forgot to hook someting up. It is very easy to miss an electrical connector or a ground wire when removing and installing an engine. In most cases, scanning the computer will render a fault code that will tell you what you forgot.

Turn ignition and it clicks... some times it starts up but it is getting worse where it will not turn over. Periodically when u let it sit, and turn the ignition, it turns over... but something seems to be...

You will need to get the battery load tested to verify if it's failing. If it is good, you may have a starter motor failing, that can also be tested on the vehicle by doing an amp draw test.

I think this is that silly security system a lot of cars have now. You have to open the driver's door with the key, or else it goes bananas.
I would lock all the doors, remove the battery terminal, wait at least 5 minutes, and then try unlocking the driver's door again.
(of course if there is something wrong with the driver's door lock, then fix that first.)
If the alarm system is still not working right, I would just hot wire a momentary push button to the starter solenoid and leave it at that.

I hate it when they put complex electrical devices like a security system in a car that sits outside in the cold, heat, rain, etc.
They make cars worse and worse all the time.

Turning over but will not start. What could it be? Starter,Battery,Something electrical

If it is turning over it is not the starter or battery, now it could be electrical...getting no spark, or it could not be getting gas...worse case scenario it could be a blown head gasket, or broken timing chain...

1999 Buick Park Avenue will **** 4 to 5 times from a dead stop

You need to perform a fuel pressure check, since it is OBII if there was something electrical going on; you would be seeing a service engine light.
