Question about 1998 Toyota Celica
We have a 1998 Toyota Celica GT. We tried starting it after a week idle, when the key is turned in the ignition there is an audible rapid clicking sound and the dashboard indicator lights flash in time with the sound. We suspect a dead battery as it has not been replaced in 5+ years, however when I tried jump starting the car, the same rapid clicking and dash light flashing occurred. The engine did not make the normal ignition "turnover" sound, only the clicking when the key is turned. The dome lights still turn on when the door is opened, so we suspect the battery does not have enough juice to start the car. We are planning to replace the battery, is this a more serious problem?
Thank you for your assistance.
Sounds like you are on the right track, the battery you have in it has done well to last that long but it sounds like a fell cells have decided to call it quits
