is your car running cool... or do you have a temp light only..... I had this happen one time. The engine was not getting hot enough. the thermostat was wide open. also the catalitic converter may have a problem. by the way are you taking it to the same place. The probe they are using maybe flucuating

Many things can cause high emissions. Excessive HC means that too much unburned gas is getting through the engine and into the exhaust (gas is the hydrocarbon). The chief culprits for HCs are a bad catalytic converter, bad injector, excessive fuel pressure (usually caused by a plugged fuel pressure regulator), or bad sensors (especially temperature sensor). A catalytic converter will usually only make 100-200 ppm difference in HC emissions so it's not likely that it could cause your numbers by itself. Metros have an O-ring seal around the injector in the throttle body. Sometimes that goes bad which lets gas leak into the intake.

A good first step would be to check if there are any trouble codes stored in the computer. The EGR system lowers Nitrous Oxide (N2O) emissions so it's not your trouble.

Try another location. and if so go get your money back and inform them of the issue. I know this is not your problem but they need to be acountable for there faulty equipment. They are making money on that device and that device is faulty... only if you can prove it to them

good luck.. If this helped you please rank

If the thermostat is wide open the car can not heat up properly. This will cause improper vaprization of the fuel as it goes into the cylinder then cause improper detonation. far fetched but I have seen it.

1997 Geo Metro rear door won't open!

I have the same car, same problem. I've still not been able to fix it, despite taking the inside panels off the rear doors, checking the rods were seated, applying WD-40 to the lock mechanisms, and manually working the mechanism. Child locks are not engaged, but I tried putting them on and off too. Just won't open.

94 geo metro won't start. possibly fuel problem. has trouble when i hit gas to make up a hill and misses, no transmission or spark plug problems. HELP!

Do a complete tune up plugs wires cap rotor. The spark gets stronger when your accelerating and this is when some electrical problems break down.
