I would suggest the investment of a Haynes manual (available at just about any parts house). This book will cover your model and make specifically in easy to understand and concise directions. This book should cost about $11-$15

This is simply the best way I can convey the directions to you. Plus with the book in the future you can look up what you are about to undertake and decide if the project is easy or too difficult for your skill level. Also keeps technicians from BSing you.

Show a step by step guide for a tune-up

A tune up consists of replacing the spark plugs and maybe the spark plug wires. Change the air filter too. No need to do timing. It is controlled by the cars computer. Spark plugs should last for about 100,000 miles. Air filters vary on how long they last. Check the air filter at 25,000 miles. Replace it no longer than 50,000 miles. Your car should not need a tune up for a couple more years or so.

I have the unlock code for my 99 saturn sl2 but i need the radio layout

Hello, you will need to enter your radio unlock code using these instructions.

  1. Press SEEK DOWN, SEEK UP, TUNE DOWN, or TUNE UP. The radio display should show 0000.
  2. PRESS SEEK DOWN to set the first digit.
  3. Press SEEK UP to set the second digit.
  4. Press TUNE DOWN to set the third digit.
  5. Press TUNE UP to set the fourth digit.
  6. If the code was entered correctly, the radio will display SEC (SECURE). The theft deterrent system for the radio is now active and normal operation may be resumed. If the code was entered incorrectly, the radio will display Err for 5 seconds and the LOC (LOCKED) will be displayed again. If LOC is displayed, repeat 1-6.
  7. If the correct code is not entered in 8 attempts, follow the next steps:
  8. 7.1. Turn ignition to ACC position. 7.2. Turn radio power switch OFF. 7.3. Wait one hour before repeating steps 1 through 7. If attempts to unlock the system are made before the one hour period is up, the radio will display INOP (INOPERATIVE). Continue to wait. If the ignition is not in the ACC position, power will never reset internally to allow itself to be unlocked. 7.4. After one hour, repeat steps 1-7.

What parts di i need for a tune up

Replace the fuel filter. If you have a fuel-injection system, regular cleaning isn't necessary unless the injectors are clogged.
  • Step 2 Change the spark plugs (unless they're platinum, in which case you have 30,000 more miles to go). Also examine the spark plug wires and replace as needed. A new set of high-quality wires is worth the cost. They may be permanently attached to the distributor cap, so it will have to be changed as well.
  • Step 3 Replace the distributor cap and rotor if your car has them (some newer models with distributorless ignition don't).
  • Step 4 Change the points and condenser if you have an older car (roughly 1978 or older) that doesn't feature electronic ignition. You'll actually want your points changed, or at least adjusted, every six months or so (if they're changed, check the ignition timing as well).
  • Step 5 Check the ignition timing and adjust as needed (rare for a car with electronic ignition--post-1980--and some cars don't allow this at all).
  • Step 6 Adjust the valves as needed (unless your car has hydraulic valves). Be sure to replace the valve-cover gasket as well, especially if you see oil on top of your engine.
  • Step 7 Check the belts. Replace if worn.
  • Step 8 Check the fluids under the hood and replenish as necessary. Change the oil and oil filter if it's been 3,000 miles since the last oil change.
  • Step 9 Replace the air filter, which should be changed between major services--every 15,000 miles--as well.
  • Step 10 Adjust the clutch, if you have a manual transmission (although some cars now sport self-adjusting clutches).
  • Step 11 Service the battery, adding distilled water (if required), cleaning terminals and cable ends.
  • Step 12 Replace the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. It can make your car run rough or stall if it gets clogged, and it's cheap and easy to replace..... hope this helped mate. Rate out of 4 above...

    Tune up Mazda 6

the owner of the car should be able perform engine tune-up . Prepare the tune up tools and materials . so that when tune-up is performed ,engine should be on peak performance and within specification.Use multi tester , Use timing light, use dwall meter ,use tachometer ,use feeler guage, adjust spark plug and contact point gaps. Adjust Idle speed and Idle mixture. Adjust tappet clearance, observe safety rules. If the owner of the car cant do the job done because of work then the owner of the car should go to a car mechanic and let them tune-up the engine.

1999 pontiac grand am 6 cylinders shakes when i put it on drive why

It may be time for a tune up, Replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, replace the fuel filter, and clean out the throttle body and fuel injectors. If there is an Auto Zone around your area, you can go there and have them scan the car for any DTC codes that would indicate anything wrong with the engine that would cause the bad idle. If there is no code, then time for the tune up and mentioned. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have and Auto Zone can give you the step by step instructions to tuning up your car free of charge too like the scan.

I have a 02 ford explorer 4x4 it starts fine and runs good but idles rough at times

There could be many things that can cause that. You many need just a simple tune up, such as new spark plugs, and wire set. The injector's may be getting dirty and the fuel filter may be at the end of it's life and needs to be changed.
If your going to tune it up your self, get the computer scanned at Auto Zone and see if there are any DTC codes that my be causing the problem. They scan for free and can give you the step by step instructions to any parts your going to replace such as the fuel filter and spark plugs.
For now if you like, try add fuel injector cleaner to your gas every time you fill up the gas tank to try to clean up the injectors. if things improve then just add it to the gas tank once a month. You can buy them at most gas stations but i find then to be cheaper at a parts store like Auto Zone or you can get them at Wal-Mart in multi packs to save you more money.
Good luck and hope this helps, a little preventive maintenance save a lot more then the repair at a later date.

your best bet would be to go to a local parts store and purchase a Haynes manual for your specific vehicle, this will give you step by step instructions as well as all the required torque specs. The Haynes manuals are around $ 25.00 canadian. hope this helps you.
