Question about 1996 Chrysler Concorde

1 Answer

My 96 Chrysler Concorde turns but won't start. It does not seem to be getting a spark. I am getting spark, I am getting fuel presure, after the car turns over (then dies) the injectors are getting juice. Then none. The fuel pressure value is ok. And yes I sprayed starter fluid in and the car RAN. But here is a question.. Is the BCM and PCM the same as a 1996 Eagle Vision TSI 3.5 and a 2000 Chyrs Intrepid 3.5

Changed the TPS (no go), changed the EGR (no go), changed the air intake sensor (no go). I put all the old parts back back because of the cost. The CPS was not changed yet.

I will keep you posted. Thanks

I had this same issue in my older bmw, it drove me crazy! not sure about your second question, but I replaced a CPS (crank/camshaft position sensor) and the TPS (throttle position sensor) all around 50 bucks each, and it started up fine and runs!

Hope this helps!

1994 chrysler concorde cuts off fuel and spark while driving

It's very possible you have a bad ignition switch. My '96 LXi had the same problem, plus it tended to randomly drop into "Limp Mode" at any speed.

After replacing the ignition switch (3 years ago) neither of those problems has resurfaced.

97 chrysler concorde stalled while on interstate and now won't start

First check coils and battery charge. You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing...
- Spark
- Fuel
- Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

To make sure its not getting spark did you shoot a little starting fluid into the air cleaner are while cranking ? or a little fuel into the throttle body area ?? try this before going further. this will tell you if its fuel or spark ... thanks and holler if you need more Jerry
