How can i adjust the gear linkeage on my 2000 ford focus it is hard to select reverse gear occasionally.5 speed manual

You may want to grease the fork sliders on the top plate. Check the nylon thickness on the forks for excessive wear. Check for excessive shaft end play between the gears and the case. Make sure the detentes on the fork sliders fully engage. The shift linkage arms have bushings so make sure there isn't excessive wear on the reverse arm .

'06 Frontier XE manual trans.Cruise control will not stay engaged when in 5th gear.

Changing the ratio could be causing the computer to miscalculate the speed. Try ruling out the sensors (by seeing if it stays engaged while in fourth gear.)

I have a zafira club 1.6 which seems to have no 5th gear. I can enter 5th whilst driving without the clutch. Any ideas please.

because of the close gear ratios and the synchronisation action ,it is possible to change gears without the clutch if the engine rpm's and road speed are close matched. If you put it in 5th gear and the engine rpm's increase without an increase in road speed (gear does not engage) then it is possible that the gear on the out put shaft is stripped. This is a common problem in vehicles where 5th gear is engaged and the vehicle load and speed is excessive inducing excessive wear on the teeth of the gear causing them to fail

My five speed Dodge Dakota stalls out in 5th is my 5th gear going out?

I would be very surprised if the gear would have any effect on the engine unless something is jammed in the transmission.
What happens when you shift into 5th ? Does the engine stall as soon as you let off the clutch ? Or does it happen later ?

First check the transmission MIL code , that will tell you if it is the Over Drive lock solenoid mal functioning , Do a tranny oil change with filter ,then replace fifth gear pressure solenoid , when you are there already .

06 ford focus 5spd. no 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear.

It sound like the gear linkage isn,t set up right, you wouldn,t always be able to engage a gear unless you rocked the car.

The gear no longer springs back from 5 to 4 and 4 to 3. 4 to 3 is particularly problematic and often almost impossible to engage.

it may be that the oil needs to be replaced if still has problem you may need to replace the transmition you can get cheeper transmitions at you nearest scrap yard
