Question about 1995 Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

Changing Radiator I just bought a second-hand radiator for my 1995 Pontiac Sunfire and wanted to install it myself and was wondering how to take it out. Does it come out up through the top of the hood or down through the bottom of the car and what should I do after I have it replaced as far as letting air back out of the radiator when putting fluid back inside. Thanks

Where is the thermostat located and how do you replace it on a 1995 pontiac sunfire?

Hi there,

The thermostat should be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose. For adequate replacement, here are some tips to guide you:

Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator
Remove this housing
Note how thermostat is installed
Clean both surfaces
Replace thermostat and gasket
Replace housing
Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an air lock
Start engine and look for leaks
Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on
Re-check coolant level

Good luck!

Where to refill a flushed radiator on 1996 pontiac sunfire

If there is no radiator cap on the radiator, that would indicate to me that the procedure for flushing and re-filling is done with the motor running, and the heat on high. Filling is done by pouring antifreeze into the coolant reservoir.

Were is the thermostat located in a Pontiac Sunfire 2000?

Your thermostat is located under the thermostat housing, which is what the upper radiator hose clamps to on the top of your engine. Basically, you need to start with a cold engine, drain your radiator, then unclamp the upper radiator hose from the engine. Remove the bolts from the thermostat housing, and gently tap on it to remove it. clean up the mounting surfaces on both the engine and the housing, and install a new thermostat, and new gasket. tighten to proper torque, reconnect the radiator hose, then refill up the radiator and cooling system.

Radiator fan motor installing

HI there! This is really pretty easy to install. There are just some 10 mm bolts that hold the fan to the radiator. Remove the bolts and unplug the fan. Then you can slide it right up and out, installation is the reverse of removal. Don't forget to plug it back in! Hope this helps! Thanks

Use premix to fill the radiator. Then add to the coolant overflow bottle to get the level to the full hot marking.
