SOURCE: when i turn the key, i get no response at all.

This is a fuel system related problem.

Check the fuel pump and I bet you will need to replace it.

The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and can be reached by removing the back seat.

Be careful when you are disconnecting all connectors and watch out for the pressure of the fuel pump.

Good luck.

SOURCE: all comes on when key

Does the car have a factory security system? it may have a starter kill on it.
also check for voltage at the starter solenoid while someone holds the key to start position, you could have a faulty ignition switch.
the engine light stays on when the key is on until engine starts.

01 ford laser has starting issues, turn key all i get is reds, wait a couple of seconds try again and it starts fine, This can go on for a while sometimes. Dont think its starter motor dont get noise

If the commutator (part that contacts the brushes) has a short, it will only energize half of the starter motor then stop. (single "click") just enough to spin the motor past the short, or when it gets worse, repeatedly turning the key, will get you repeated single clicks until past the short, then starts fine

Check with your local parts store, they may check your starter for free, you are looking for excessive amp draw

When I put my key in the ignition and turn it, I cannot start the car. It started just fine an hour ago. I have no mechanical problems it just wont turn on

turn the headlights on .. if they dont light then suspect a bad battery connection or bad battery .. if they do light then try to start the car ..if the lights go out .. again suspect the above .. if they dont then suspect a starter problem .. that could include the neutral safety switch (on the gear shift) and in some cars the brakes have to be on in order to enable the starter .. that could be a bad brake safety switch .. if you hear a click when the starter is operated then you could have a bad soloniod or starter .. it is not unusual for a battery that is several years old to fail suddenly ..

When I insert my key to start, I do not hear the "click" indicating electonic system activation. Turning the key, lights come on, computer activates etc. but no starter motor engagement. Relay switch?...

no dont think its the magic relay but more like the immobilisor ,is their any security light flashing on the dash somewhere ,try locking and unlocking the door with the key three times then try to start within 15 secs .if this doesnt work it could be the brake light switch if its an auto ,Not sure what you mean by the click. Without having the vehicle in front of me its difficult to tell you exactly what to look for

The car does't start

I dont no what model good car you have but the problem you have if the starter just clicks and dosent turn over the engine its Either BATTERY is 50% nogood or the starter motor is poling (shorting inside) or rhe starter bendix isent throughing out or the solenoid is shorting inside OR the engine is siezed up,,,,, But i dont think its the engine so start off with
Turn on headlights ,then turn the key to start Does your lights go out or dim (if yes) jump start from another car ,, if it starts GOOD then battery isent any good,,.
If not and the starter still just clicks or clunks then the starter is faulty BUT before taking it off turn the engine over by hand just a little and try the key again, if no go then take the starter off and away for testing
Let me know how you get on have a goodday Ron
Theres more to check so keep in touch..

Truck will not start.

sounds like the starter solenoid or starter relay or the "Park-Neutral Safety switch"

Try starting it in neutral, or carefully, hold the key in start while moving the shift lever from park to low gear slowly and - with your foot on the brake and parking brake on.

report back.

I cant start my car with the remote starter

You normally have to while the car is running transmition in neutral push the brake pedal, put the emergancy brake on, release the foot brake, press the remote start button on the remote, take keys out of ignition switch, car should stay running, get out, press the lock button on remote starter remote, car should shut off, and now is set

94 jeep wrangler 4.0 starter problems

there should be a small and a big wire to the starter the big one should have a constant 12volt and the other is the control circut. with a multi-meter conect your ground and put the pos leed on the control circut at the starter and have someone turn the key (WITH THE E BRAKE ON,NOT IN GEAR as to not get ran over if this involves being under you jeep) with the key on start (turned all the way) you should read a 12volt signal if not fallow back to your relay looking for a open-circut.
