Have a look at your fuel pump. There is low pressure of fuel running to the engine.

do you have a transmission problem? if you press on the brake pedel with you left foot and press down far on the gas pedal with your right foot-does the car want to really take off! or does the engine just rev like neutral or slipping with no grip?

Multitronic gearbox

dont ask a dealer-bettr advice from privatemechs--ur car needs a datastream run-to show values whats goin on in the system--specific gear is used not a cheap code reader--the computer may hav issues-unplug it and clean the connectors-then see if it clears anything--ur library has vehicle repair books

2001 ford escape v6 wont go into any gear

These are very weak transmissions with way under-sized coolers, I would bet you need a rebuild and a larger cooler for it.

When I press the gas paddle I have to press all the way down to get the car to move but once it starts going it drive ok.

you may have a gearbox problem but look at it this car is over two and a half ton's,,,,, its no light weight flimsy! so its going to need a fair old bit of right boot to get her moving and just as much to stop her again! i had one of them and mine was the same,,,its no sprinter,,,slow to start moving and slow to stop too!
you can test the gearbox but DO NOT do this for more that a fuw seconds,,,,,,start the engine up and warm it up,,,then hold the brakes hard on,,,put her in drive,,,,and give her full throttol,,,,hold the throttol hard down,,, read the rev counter,,,if it reads more that 2000rpm,,,you got a problem with the gearbox!
DO NOT hold the throttol down for more than a fuw seconds,,,,,,
you will burn up the gearbox if its slipping!!!!!

Theres no tension behind the gas petal when i press it

The pedal is connected to a wire cable which runs to a valve or flap of some type at the intake end of the fuel injector under the hood. Either the cable has broken, or the spring which keeps the fuel injector opening closed down to idle position has broken or the cable has come off at one end or the other. Raise the hood and have a companion move the pedal up and down while you find the accelerator cable housing, most likely will be black. If the stiff wire cable inside the housing is moving with your friend's movement of the pedal then you should look to the end of the cable. You will see a small grooved wheel and the cable lies in that groove, and its movement turns the wheel which moves the flap inside. If the cable is not moving then your accelerator cable has broken or come loose at the pedal end.

My 2000 gmc jimmy will move real slow put the rpm's continue to rise as you press on gas pedal, then you let up off the pedal and press it again the vehicle will move normally, what would cause this?

This problem could be as simple as a TPS (throttle position sensor). Some vehicles are now drive by wire. This means that there is no actual throttle cable. When the gas pedal is depressed, it sends a signal to the CPU and tells how far the pedal has been pushed. How many miles do you have on this? Sometimes a plugged catalytic converter can cause a vehicle to accellerate slowly and cause you to "butterfly" the pedal and make it hard to get over 60-70 MPH. Hope this gives you some ideas.
