Question about 1994 Chevrolet K2500

1 Answer

Not a problem but more like a question or opinion... i decided to wash my engine.....and i covered evrything and sprayed evrything with this "gunk heavy duty engine degreaser" which sucks by the way,.....

but since my trucks engine is kinda hard to get around it to brush certain areas.....i took the valve covers clean both the inside and the outside.........and i noticed that there is a bunch of sludge build up in the valve area.......

and i was wondering is it safe if i spray the valves and the area in general with the engine degreaser?

after i am done cleaning....just before i put the covers back on i will pour a little oil on them to protect them...for if i took vital oil out....

Don;t pour that on the valve train! They make an internal engine degreaser that you add to the oil the last 100 miles before an oil change to get rid of that sludge. If you have alot of sludge you need to change oil more often.

Vs 3800 commodoor engine runs bad on idle and low revs after degrease but goes well once above 40kms

You say the problem arose after a "degrease"? Was this a pressure spray? If this is fact, then 1) there is possible moist in the electrics/electronics, check for and remove all moist that could be causing a short circuit in electric/electronic circuit equipment. It is fact today that with so much computer technology in vehicles today, many manufacturers advise against spray washing engines. Or 2) an air intake filter has been blocked due to the spray process. Blow out the filter with dry air only to attempt to clear the blockage! NB! A filter should always only be blown out (if absolutely necessary) and in the opposite direction of normal function. One should always only vacuum a filter in that direction as well. i.e. blow out from inside and vacuum from outside only! If this is the case you most likely find that the vehicle is running very rich as well, due to the blocked filter. If blowing or vacuuming does help, then rather buy and fit a new filter.

Code po405

You don't let other people work on your vehicles
You seldom if ever wash todays all electronic vehicles
If you do, you spot clean yourself & blow out all electrical
connectors with an air hose if you have issues
Your 300 codes is water down into the valve cover spark plug wells
The 405 is the EGR Valve issue,it failed or they ruined it
Google the codes

Change spark plugs

tools: 10mm and spark plug socket wrench, rochet extensions, rochet and a torque wrench, T30 torque set and a (BMW)screwdriver.
- remove cabin filter(3 cover knobs) and cabin filter housing(4-T30 bolts or screws).
- remove four bolts and cover of the engine. not to forgot to cover oil fill after taking out engine covers.
- take out the wire by slipping up the lock.
- remove 2-10mm bolts of the ignition coil and take out one by one not to evrything.
then you have your spark plug.

Yes the PCV can be replaced. It seals into a rubber grommet in the valve cover. See pitcure of valve below.

Drove it home, evrything fine, went out 2 hours later, will not start, engine turns over but wont start, replaced the coil pack still wont start

Make sure that you have fire and fuel. You may want to spray some ether into the air intake. If it doesn't want to start and it has fire, you may want to consider the timing chain.

You will have dry all ignition components ... You have a distributor that you can open? Get a drying agent from your auto parts store (spray can) and spray all high voltage wires. Next sunny day, roll the Vette into the sun and leave the hood open all day.
