Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The key icon started coming on the dash and it would start then die within two secs. So we went to a locksmith and got a new key and also had the two old keys reprogrammed. Worked good for about three weeks then started doing it again. Now this is an intermittent problem if one key does'nt work I try another one, sometimes that works or I have to leave it sit for about an hour to restart it. Another thing that works sometimes is disconnecting the battery and another time I pushed lock and unlock on the fob and turned the ignition on and off a few times and it worked. This problem is so sparatic that I have no idea what needs to be replaced or fixed. So this problem is the key security icon on the dash thinking that it is the wrong key or something and will start and die if you start within 2 secs. If you turn the key to acc. and the icon flashes it will die. Please Help!!
You need to replace the SKIM module and have it programmed. It needs to be programmed to the PCM with the VIN and the keys all have to be programmed to the module. I don't think aftermarket scanners are capable of all that is involved so you may have to go to the dealer to get it done. I hope this helps.
