Question about 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

I have low oil pressere. i change oil pomp ,senssor.seals. and still have low oil pressure .extenal readin show /20 . boot after 10 minute /0 and light come up. I have a similar problem with 2004 Tahoe. Its very strange, but oil pressure reading is normal most of the time. If I drive in stop-and-go traffic for about 20 minutes, the reading drops to 0. Stopping and cooling down helps, but there is no apperent correlation in what could be causing this. Replaced oil pump and sensor, but no change.

I don't think its a clogging issue since it only happens when I drive for a while. Normally, the pressure is good.

I had the same problem with my dodge. It was sludge buildup it would cover my pickup tube screen. When I would let it sit the debris would fall back into the pan.

Did you change the screen with the oil pump?
sometimes the screen will get clogged up and lose oil pressure.

Fuel pressure problem

The fuel pressure sensor is not the actual pressure of the fuel in the rail,it is in the evap (emmissions) side.Just vapors, shouldn't make the car run poorly. Low fuel pressure is a different problem,I would check the pressure regulator first (under hood,on the fuel rail),make sure the vacuum hose is ok and pull the hose off the regulator and make sure there is NO fuel in the hose.20 min, that seems odd ,try it with the gas cap OFF ,maybe there is too much vent. Only thoughts I have ,good luck!

I just purchased a 2000 GMC Savana 3500 with the 5.7 litter engine with 92000 miles on it. The temp gauge shows that the engine is running between 100 - 160 degrees, seems too cold. The oil pressure gauge...

you probably have your finger on the problem. have oil pressure test .when engine hot minimum 12psi.and change the thermostat.Don't cost much

2005 Chevy Silverado show low/erratic (0-20 lbs) oil pressure.

More then likely the sending unit is faulty, but to be safe hook up a mechanical test gage at the oil pressure sender port and check oil pressure hot engine, if it is steady then replace the sending unit.

The oil presser gauge keeps going to 0 when i stop but when I give it gas it goes to about 40. what do you think the problem is

I think your sending unit which sends a signal to the gauge needs replaced. Oil could be sludgy and gumming up inside the unit. But basically you could drive it for awhile but I suggest you get it in for servicing unless you want to try to fix it yourself. One quart low of oil could also do this. How many miles do you have on it?

Oil light is coming on . I hear a ping in engine . does sound like it is low on oil .It was 4 degrees last night when I had this problem . Car had been running and dip stick appeared to be full. I put 1/2...

What weight of oil are you using?
In cold temps it must be 5-20 or 5-30. Some newer oils are actually 0-20
Do not use thicker oils. They will not circulate in cold temps. And the oil pump will cavitatate. Meaning no oil circulation.
This is serious. An engine will last only 5-8 seconds with out oil pressure. 6-8 seconds not minutes. Engines must use much thinner oil in cold temperatures. Merely adding a quart of thinner oil to a crankcase of thicker oil... will ... not... help
If you can't change it yourself. Wait... wait... yes you can.... you can do this.

Where is the oil sending sensor on a 95 buick lasabre oil pressure gauge keeps showing low pressure

typically on the back side of the engine in an impossible to reach spot. you will likely have to take this car in to get serviced.

The idle may be to low or the motor is just old and a new set of rod bearings is need with an oilpump to bring the pressure back up.
