Question about 1995 Jeep Cherokee
One of the repair guys probably used the "Lock" button on the driver's door or the key lock to the car (instead of the remote) when he was working on it.
Shut all doors, lock the car back up (either with remote or "lock" button) and unlock the TAILGATE with the key FIRST. Then use the key to open the driver's door and it should shut the security system off.
