Question about 2002 Ford Taurus
While driving at freeway speeds, the tachometer suddenly goes to zero and then bounces around while I maintain a consistent speed. Slowly, one idiot light comes on and then another. The car continues to operate. When I get to a safe place to stop, I do. If I try to turn on the car, it just clicks and the motor doesn't turn over. If I wait an hour and try again, the car starts up and operates normally. This "event" has happened four times since October 2007. When I've taken the car to a Ford dealership, they can't find a problem - no computer error codes.

Well that would lead me to believe that your crank position sensor is going bad, and it will not show up on a computer scan for fault codes, I would have it checked along with cam sensor and replaced if necessary, before you get left somewhere desolate and the car wont start even after the sensor cools down
